Monthly for Flaunt Magazine, October 2006
Monthly horoscopes are delivered to subscribers one each Monday beginning with the first Monday that the Sun is in the new sign. We have four different ones. If there are five Mondays while the Sun is in a sign, there is no horoscope the fifth Monday.
Aries (March 20–April 19)
You’re dancing on that thin line between work and passion. By now it should be obvious why this is not prime real estate. If you have passion around your work, that implies you might need to make a commitment. And sometimes you just have to follow your hormones, wherever they may lead you.
Taurus (April 19–May 20)
Details surrounding a particular relationship seem to be all you can think of — in particular, the fine points of how you express your commitment to someone you love. But I propose that the big picture is more important than the small one. The feeling is more important than having anything specific right or wrong.
Gemini (May 20–June 21)
You will need to take a chance for anything you want in the coming months. In general, the bigger the risk, the greater the reward, but there is an added factor: the more you care about someone or something, the more likely you’ll see a return on your dare. So gamble, but gamble with passion.
Cancer (June 21–July 22)
Beliefs are a drag. They might be worth something if they were up to date, based on accurate information, or had some positive influence over the course of one’s life. Recently you left a belief by the side of the road; I suggest you keep driving, and don’t look back.
Leo (July 22–August 23)
It is true that a great deal in this world begins with words, but before words, and before ideas, is this odd little factor of giving a shit. It’s all too true that you can divide the world between those who care and those who don’t. We don’t need to mention which side of the line you are on. But now, the good news is you’ll have some company.
Virgo (August 23–September 22)
Focus on money. If you have any inhibitions about this — such as it’s not spiritual, or in some other way ‘wrong’, make it your business to get over this hang-up. And a hang-up it is. Living well may not be a right. But if it’s a privilege, it’s one of which you must have a part.
Libra (September 22–October 23)
The Sun and the planets have gathered in your birth sign, and at long last you can take a few solid steps in the world. I hope you learned that it takes more than Xanax to let go of anxiety: it takes guts, and moreover, choosing the voice in your mind that you really want to hear. True, hardly anybody figures this out. But that shouldn’t stop you.
Scorpio (October 23–November 22)
If people knew what you really, really think in the depths of your imagination, would they be so shocked? I propose, however, that you shock yourself. Go so deep past the charade of ego, the world, customs and taboos, that you dip into the deepest waters of why you are — and bring out something absolutely new.
Sagittarius (November 22–December 22)
What do you consider to be the rewards of your work? This is the time to find out, and to seek out the most important among them. No doubt an added level of recognition and notoriety would suit your fancy, but make sure it’s the kind you want and need. Anything you say can be held against you.
Capricorn (December 22–January 20)
The past month or two have had the approximate feeling of sensitivity training. That is, how to respond, when everyone is extremely oversensitive. But now that you’re trained, you can see that it’s not so easy. You just need to have a thick skin and a big heart, simultaneously.
Aquarius (January 20–February 19)
You are now seeing how deeply certain changes have affected your life, even though you could not see at the time that they were taking shape. In a strange way, you know more, but are free to say less. You can feel more, but are finally free not to react. You can feel, and people feel you back.
Pisces (February 19–March 20)
So much has developed in the past six or eight weeks it’s difficult to know where to begin. But the best place is always the present. It’s fair to say you have less of what you don’t need and more of what you need the very most. It’s fair to say you can keep going on working out that particular exchange.
