Note to Readers — October 2025 Horoscope
This email includes your October monthly readings. It’s based exclusively on the forthcoming Chiron-Eris conjunction in Aries. I explain that event in the Starcast above an an article that has gone out today, accessible to my paid subscribers on any level. Starcast is open to everyone; in a half-hour audio presentation, I put the conjunction into some context, both immediate and historical.
I’m also planning a video about it, potentially Friday. Astrology is visual and this will help you get a sense of what’s happening and why it’s so significant.
We don’t need to look far to see the collective effects of the conjunction — events of the past two weeks describe it perfectly. Yet it will have individual effects that differ for everyone, and in the horoscope below I frame that for the Sun and rising signs.
If you know your Chiron sign (pretty easy to look up), my horoscopes are valid for that placement as well. I write each and all of them to be interesting to everyone. Each takes a different perspective on the same planetary pattern. That is the art of the horoscope: seeing the same thing 12 distinct ways.
If you have not yet availed yourself of my midyear readings, they offer an hour of new video, plus the past four years of written annuals for each of the signs. This is the only place to go back four years on my annual editions, and I promise the old ones are just as meaningful as the new ones. Tap on the flower art below.
Meaning is context, and I use astrology to offer you both.
Thanks for your business and your trust.

Aries (March 20-April 19) — By the time they’re adults, most people don’t change so much. Growth is barely a thing; learning happens on a special occasion. Healing is perhaps imagined, and then the concept is abandoned as doctors and pharmacists fill the space where it might be possible. Awareness is a known concept, and yet most people walk around in the haze of their own polarization, judgment and lack of curiosity. You are being called to bring your life to a more meaningful place. The present rare alignment of Chiron and Eris in your birth sign is not about astrology. It’s about everything within your own consciousness that is insisting that you pay attention to your inner being and what is actually happening around you. Are you following me? This is not about what “astrology” is saying to you. I’m talking about what you know to be the right thing to do at this time in your life — and it may contradict every way you’ve ever previously lived. What you become aware of, you are responsible for, and this might seem like a good reason to look anywhere but the one place you know you must look. That place is within — for your understanding, for your questions, and for your answers. Again, I am not talking about some flowery New Age notion. I mean that the world around you is a distraction and contains no guidance or information that is not rooted in an inner point of focus. Your awakening may seem amazing or it may seem rude and shocking. Regardless, it’s time to get real about the necessities of your growth and your healing.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) — It is difficult to know what you don’t know, especially when it’s something about you. Yet is it true that the story of your life is of one surprising, even shocking, self-discovery after the next? The funny thing is, you tend to forget these moments. What you discover either disappears back into you, forgotten like a dream, or it takes its place as something you always knew and was always there. Yet what’s happening now cannot fit into either of those categories. Your present self-awakening is so radical and coming from such a deep place that you cannot fail to notice. Whatever is emerging now, you cannot pretend it didn’t happen or that you didn’t learn what you’ve learned. Therefore, what you have is an opportunity for permanent awakening and also for a model of lasting growth. But before you get there, you’ll need to experience an emotional quality that you usually avoid with all your might: vulnerability. This is usually the one thing that stands between you and your potential; between you and your ability to become something other than you’ve always been. You might ask what you’re protecting. I would propose that you’re guarding the child you once were. Vulnerability connects you to that being that is you. Acknowledgement that you can grow connects you to the most important experience of being a child, which is some fusion of discovery and maturity. Children love to grow and love to discover. So what happened to this kid that it seems necessary to leave him or her alone in the dark? That’s no place for a child. And it’s no place for you.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — The world has become a kind of one-way mirror, like in an interrogation room. Everyone is on display and at the same time cannot see the people who are looking at them. Not everyone can stand this. You may be sensitive enough to feel the toxicity of this kind of energy arrangement. The answer to this problem is not found in avoiding the digital environment. Rather, this is about your state of mind when approaching all social encounters, whatever form they may take. Plenty that happens in the so-called real world is conducted on the rules of digital transactions, by people who treat one another like robots. This includes a long list of seemingly normal behaviors that are completing the digital takeover of existence faster than it could be done by the industry. While everyone else can do what they want, you won’t be happy being anything other than human. And that is the challenge — a serious one, too. To preserve your humanity and live within your true being means somehow addressing pressure coming from nearly every angle. Yet you will benefit from the company of others who see the situation in a similar way as you do. You must have a consensus around you, not to ward off evil but rather to help you maintain your mental and emotional center. There are strategies that you can bring to the problem, which include generosity, sincerity, personal contact, eye contact, and cooking your own food. This may seem like a small measure. It is not. It’s one of the most significant things you can do for yourself in the age of artificial everything.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — It’s difficult to find direction when the world is in chaos, or meaning when society is drowning in the irrelevant. By what standard would you compare? How would you know you’re on course? Your reference points would need to be internal. That presents significant challenges when an effect of the digital environment is to place everything outside yourself. Nearly all judgments people make about themselves and others are based on appearances of things like happiness, success and meaning. Once you start eliminating these misleading references, you’re left with how you feel inwardly. That, in turn, can be something of a pioneering quest — unless you just know; unless you feel a calling that you trust, and follow it. And if you don’t just know, or cannot trust, you may feel like you’re starting from scratch. Your sense of direction and purpose are described by the sign Aries, where many new cycles are turning over. Count on your awakening to accelerate over the next few weeks, as Chiron, the planet of healing and awareness, makes contact with an even newer astrological factor called Eris. This all but assures you will notice and discover new qualities (by which I mean distinct abilities) within yourself. They may radically contradict your old expectations, or what it seems that everyone else believes. In this moment, the most important thing you can do is have the courage to be different. Yes, it will feel risky. Be prepared to stand out and stand apart from others as a natural consequence of what you’re learning. From there, you will have a vantage point on yourself and where your mission aligns with the necessities of the world. These may be subtle cues at first, they may feel ‘wrong’, and to move forward, you will need to cultivate the rare gift of inner authority.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — When you peel back the spiritual theory, metaphysical concepts and religious dogma, all you really know for sure is that you’re here on Earth. Everything else is speculation, usually pushed by people with an agenda for you. We’re all influenced, or perhaps flogged, by parents and other authority figures trying to make us believe what they believe, whether or not they have a clue. It’s easy to be misled by someone who is in a state of wonderment, inexperience or confusion. Under the influence of Chiron and Eris making contact in the most philosophical house in your chart (the 9th place), a helpful mantra can be: “where am I, and what am I doing here?” Please don’t rush to answer those questions. Let them stand, and feel the tension that would naturally infuse a real inquiry. You might discover you actually don’t know much. You might say something like, “I’m me, and I’m in Greene County, NY, and I’m writing a horoscope.” Okay, what does that tell you? What are all those things? Yet simple or over-general answers are better than ones containing assumptions. Your state of mind counts for a lot. The world seems one way when you’re happy, and another way when you feel despondent or depressed. You may feel more meaning when you’re focused and less when you blur over or are tired. So give this time, and practice catching assumptions and false expectations. As you gradually clear away what is not true, what is true will become more apparent. Overall this is a slow process that will have several points of revelation over the next six months, and you’re in one of them now. So focus on listening, and hearing, the still, small voice within you.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — There is or should exist the question of whether it’s possible to self-actualize when you’re in a relationship. This is a difficult matter, as we are all in relationships of various kinds; but I’m talking about the kind where your entire identity is invested in the connection. Are certain kinds of growth possible within that framework, and what happens when your evolution accelerates? Consider a commonplace situation: someone is changing, and yet the people around them expect them to be the same person they were yesterday. This can be extremely tense, and the fear of sacrifice can come from every direction. Notably, our intimate relationships are not usually designed to accommodate growth (they can be, but this often seems to be a missing element). Rather, we are expected to be extensions of what we were on the day we made a commitment. Tectonic forces of inner movement are now so strong within you that they seem powerful enough to move everything in your life. It would be dangerous to resist them, as would holding back a bursting dam. Admit that these forces are bigger than you and bigger than your relationships and you may find some relief. And if relationships lack accommodations for change, some may include the potential for a conversation. As the person having the growth experience, you would be the one to initiate the discussion. Be respectful of what you don’t yet know, and of the fact that everyone is going through some kind of rapid evolution right now. Stick to the basic facts and do not justify yourself. Where shared commitments are involved, be clear if you need help; state what you can and cannot do. And yes, this will be a test of whether your relationships are sustained by love, or by something else.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — The Chiron-Eris connection is taking place in the angle of your chart where you meet the world face-to-face. It’s also what you see when you turn your head a little to the left, and little to the right. You may be looking around at upheaval and weird developments and wondering what in God’s name is happening to the world around you. This may involve deep and potentially justified concerns about people close by. And it’s also possible that you’re feeling alienated from a world that you just don’t understand and that is changing so fast you cannot keep up. Libra is the sign of both balance and dependable relationships, and these things are rare to find in our moment. But you’re unlikely to find them outside yourself and more likely to be a source of stability for others in your sphere. Given the prevailing state of chaos, it would help to have superpowers, and you have a few to work with. One is your gift for language. You have a significant advantage in a world that is degrading from the overuse of emojis and machine-written emails. Use your words, and use them wisely. Second, you have a sense of what a game everything has become. That should help you avoid the pointless ones and engage in those that have a purpose. Finally, you have the power to direct your energy in specific ways. Be sure to keep a conscious handle on this ability. It will be functional whether you’re in possession of it or not; it has the power to help as well as to harm. Therefore, every application of your mental power calls for a thoughtful decision process, including a risk assessment.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Your ruling planet Mars will be moving through your sign into early November, which will help you feel like yourself in a world where nothing much feels like anything. So you’ll be at a distinct advantage while many people around you are spinning, teetering, tottering or just plain old confused. Mars in your sign — for now — will help you maintain an inner orientation, which is the most important thing you can have right now. It will keep you focused on your instincts, and help inform you about what you want. Meanwhile, the most important developments in your life are happening with that thing you call work. This is taking place in another Mars-ruled sign, Aries. With Mars visiting you, you are likely to make the connection to an enhanced sense of purpose or calling or meaning. This will be coming from within you, not from outside. Yet the external factor implies some form of activity. Also implied is the notion of ‘right livelihood’, a term that has gone out of use lately. It’s an important concept: doing what is right for you, not just what you might profit from. We are all taught that jobs are a source of money and health insurance, not a forum for growth or personal evolution. Work is not supposed to be the place where you can be you, but as a Scorpio you must be in the right place doing the right thing for those 50 hours a week. You cannot work for money; you must work for love of the activity. One benefit of digital chaos is, you can in fact sort out a way to do this. You have many options and an affinity for navigating them. And a rare breakthrough of awareness is in progress. The right thing will not feel ‘easy’. That’s an important clue.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — While your sign has a freewheeling, stop-at-nothing reputation, it’s easy for you to get caught in small details and what you think are the expectations of others. It’s like you have a powerful engine with a block of wood under the gas pedal, which prevents you from revving your engine. That block of wood involves various concepts related to family, your notion of integrity, and a certain undeniable need for control that tends to run your life. Chiron and Eris are generational factors that are now making their closest alignment (since 1972) in Aries. That’s the most creative and self-creative angle of your chart. For you, creative and self-creative are the same thing, the making of who you are, and the making of art in some form. Ideally, everything you do would be taken to the level of truly personal expression. But it’s difficult to do that if you’re also managing the expectations of others. So really, it’s a choice of one or the other. There’s an old expression about dancing like nobody is watching and singing like nobody is listening. That’s what your chart is talking about. So therefore what you do cannot be regulated by lurking thought forms of parents, teachers, the night watchman or the parish priest. You may feel guilty about transgressing someone else’s boundaries that were instilled into you. You may feel like you would have to take the biggest chance of your life to enter new territory — and I would say that’s about right. A risk is involved. Being daring is involved, and for you, that means risking some form of disapproval that does not actually exist. Few even take an interest in what you do or what you decide — but you must.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — There is so much focus on family life and family history in your chart, it’s amazing you have the ability to focus on anything else. Yet if you’re responding to your astrology, you may be feeling the need to involve yourself in a work project that breaks any previous mold of what you’ve ever done in the past. So if you’re feeling restless and like you need something new, by all means experiment. Whatever this is will (if you allow it to) take hold over the next six months. If there is not something new, it’s likely you’re feeling pressure to move on from something that’s been around for a long time. But the best way to clean the kitchen is to make dinner. Meantime, your chart is revealing a need for a real social life — something that’s grown vanishingly rare in the digital era, and especially post ‘covid’. Some people seem happy with their friends, but that does not mean their horizons are expanding or that they are open to new people. Yet pushing your personal frontier in all forms of relationship shows up in a diversity of ways. The most important matter is on the theme of what it means to feel safe in your body, in your home and in your world. This is not easy territory for anyone right now, and it may be especially challenging for you. Circumstances on the planet are not going to make this any easier. So the sooner you develop your sense of inner sanctuary, the better. You may have every reason to feel secure and still not feel so; you may have many reasons to worry and none of them matter. It’s ultimately up to you.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You could sum up all of your spiritual and intellectual growth with what may seem like a Zen koan: know when you do not know. This is the prime directive, the original instruction and the meaning of life for all whose chart contains a strong Aquarius signature, and that includes you. A century of overexposure to electrical and digital mass media has all but ruined our minds, and your particular mind is at the epicenter of this colossal battle for the soul of humanity. Know when you don’t know. Do not fall for the mock certainty, the false clarity and the pseudo intellectualism that currently dominates consciousness. Knowing when you don’t know is the dividing line between a genius and a moron. To have that modicum of awareness is the true light of awareness. Therefore, ask yourself constantly: how do I know that? When you spot a belief (which will be cloaked in certainty), ask yourself: why do I believe that? Rather than going through life as a cynic and a skeptic (which are not formulas for happiness), I am suggesting that you use your awareness well, and practice discernment. You could have a great mind if you wanted it. But at the moment, you are too clouded by belief and the pressures of consensus ‘reality’. And on several accounts, including Pluto active in your solar chart, now is the time to break consensus. That’s the thing. Yours is the astrological archetype most susceptible to the influence of experts. Intelligence can make people more prone to believing propaganda rather than less. Therefore, place yourself in a constant state of self-reflection. Do not believe anything. Examine the evidence carefully, and seek the perspective of others with different views.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Several astrological factors describe you as walking on the road less traveled, in the context of current aspects (largely events occurring in Aries and also the air signs). This is important. The world is wrapped up in mental chaos, while you have the potential to relate to existence through the emotional, the intuitive and the feminine. Saturn will remain in your sign through Feb. 13, 2026, when it re-enters Aries and makes its conjunction to Neptune. That’s another story — let’s stick to the present. In the present, you have the power of Saturn working the last degrees of your sign. That describes the need and the opportunity for completion — on several different time scales. There are certain immediate and medium-range developments that you need to wrap up. Think back three years; think back to the beginning of this year. What needs to be completed? What’s been on the docket or gathering dust on the workbench? Drive those things to completion, which will be easier than it seems. Meanwhile, there may be something going back to 1996, the last time Saturn exited Pisces. As for Jupiter, your classical ruling planet is in your fellow water sign Cancer, picking up the vibes of Chiron and Eris. The Jupiter element is translating into a luck factor, a creative resource and an opportunity for that thing known as pleasure. Take advantage while it lasts, and while it’s at its peak. Push your luck, doing the right thing. Indulge in your creative ability, doing what you know is true and real. Give yourself an afternoon and an evening off, or even two whole days to rub against one another. And look around your life for someone who might want to get your clothes off.
