The 2025 spring reading is done. These are 50-minute readings that calmly explore our current astrological wilderness. I wanted to have your reading ready well in advance so you have time to work with the ideas I’m seeing in the astrology. We’re getting a lot of action all at once; I read the charts thoughtfully, in plain talk, in slow motion — so you can really get the feeling of these events and put them to maximum benefit. Note, it’s alternately called For the Faithful, Reckoning and the Spring Reading… you can choose your favorite name and color.

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Neptune entering your sign a few days ago may not bring any sense of resolution to your current state of mystery, though you might find the many unknowns of your life easier to live with. There are always plenty of those, though sometimes more obvious and sometimes less. What you’re living with is not some general state of not knowing, but rather a specific state of intense expectation of what is coming — and coming soon. We might more accurately say what is arriving, which you have never experienced before. Perhaps if you were conscious in the early 1970s there was a little something similar, though that was a very different place and time. And it was nothing in comparison to current developments — particularly given the ominous nature of life here at the bottom of the digital ocean. What I am saying is that the intensity and pressure of your astrology is ramping up fast, all at a time when humanity has been shocked out of its collective body into total chaos. This is a special time for you. Pay attention.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — The story of your charts is of the quest for yourself. Imagine that earlier in life, you had a different personality, but somehow forgot who you were. Pretend you woke up one morning and knew, at least, that you had another existence in this body and yet cannot remember it, as if your memory was wiped out. You had enough information and remnants of your previous life to know you were once someone else. Then imagine you go on a conscious quest for that person — to connect with that person, and to make peace with them. That is what your charts are about now; that is the scenario they describe. You may be dimly aware of your growing need to rediscover someone you actually were, and slowly the lights are going to come on. But if you’re having little recollections and getting visions and fragments in your dreams, you’re not making things up.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You seem to be chasing something or someone. And yet it’s not their present reality that you’re after, but rather some past version of who they were. Obviously this cannot succeed in tangible or physical ways; people are who and what they are in the present. Yet your memories seem strong, and you may be determined. If any of this is vaguely accurate, I suggest you explore your recollections and reconsider your history with this person, or perhaps an experience. It’s likely that you are seeking something but are not sure what it is. So if you keep an open mind about what it might be, you’re more likely to find it. The finding is about learning something about yourself, and potentially about someone else. I’m not making this sound very exciting, I know. That depends on how much you value self-understanding and resolution of personal questions. No involvement from anyone else is required.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The planets are aligning to bring you many opportunities and potential developments in your professional or vocational life. And I would remind you that the work you do is your most accessible and important means of staying in contact with who you are. I’m not talking about your job per se — though this may be included, depending on how close you are to your work. The planets and really the whole astrological story of your life is saying that you simply must be invested and involved in your role in the world. The work you do every day must be in response to a calling; that’s what the world ‘vocation’ means. The first three letters are the same word root as ‘vocal’. This is something that you may feel and in a sense hear — though the time is approaching when you must apply your highest vision and your most devoted discipline to your productive activities. You are being called. Yet you will only hear if you listen.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — People around you are working with a thought-through strategy. Are you? Are you aware of their plans? Even if you don’t have a specific agenda or scheme, you will be well-served to know what others have in their minds. The only way to find out is to ask them about what they have going on. Their plans are unlikely to contradict your needs or intentions, so you don’t need to be defensive. In the meantime, you have bigger things on your mind than social plans and politics. Over the next two weeks you will discover the extent to which you are tapped into a deep place within yourself as well as connected to something much larger than you are. This involves where your spiritual state intersects with that of the planet: or you might say, the conditions of our society as they immediately influence you. Humans are now in the process of surrendering their soul to the voracious robot known as artificial intelligence. Do you really want to? And do you understand how this is happening?

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You might want to dial back your obsession with integrity. In the end, it doesn’t work out that way. All you get is inflexibility, and that is a sign of fear. So you might want to let your fear speak first. What is expressing itself as some kind of social anxiety or some sense you have of being disliked is revealing a deeper spiritual situation. We could say that this is a matter of confidence, yet this comes from no place else than standing fully in who you are and being known for who you are. You stand in your true strength and power when you have nothing to hide, and no issues with yourself. Said another way, you are only truly strong when you’re aligned with yourself. Practice treating everyone the same way, with the same level of basic respect — whether they’re your boss, your partner, your children, or the Uber driver. This reflects you being entirely comfortable with who you are, which does not change with the circumstances, no matter whose presence you’re in. You are you at all times.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — The sublime adventure of spring 2025 is underway, now that Neptune has entered your opposite sign Aries. The reminder here is to keep asking what is real and what is not. Perhaps the better thing to ask is how much of what you perceive is coming from your own mind, and how much is actually there in objective fact? For the sake of this discussion, let’s assume there’s a difference. In order to find out, you may need to conduct some experiments. I call them probes. This includes a blend of careful observation and listening, and also either saying things or taking actions that are designed to test the reality of your environment. You will need to set your prejudices aside and also not make judgments, but rather collect things you can state as facts. What is invisible and in the deep background is going to be the best source of data, though with Neptune involved you must proceed with extreme care and take a long time to figure anything out: weeks or months, not hours or days.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You’ll need to work with the chaos factor rather than against it. And that, my Scorpio cousin, is the key to success here in the depths of the 21st century, where chaos is the most abundant element. So it is to any successful voyager here in our time as the sea is to sailors: the thing that cannot be escaped, only (to some degree) mastered. I say ‘to some degree’ remembering that where the ocean is concerned, there are no guarantees, and there is an inherent risk — and that is also the distinction of our times, related to even very basic matters. Yet in a chaotic environment, where hardly anyone is paying attention, some fantastic experiments are possible. These will turn out to be forays into the new person you’re becoming, which is only claimed as a matter of experience and not of theory. You can dance around inside your own head for as long as you want; this has nothing to do with first position or boogeying to the music. Start by listening, first for the beat, then for the melody and then for the words — and respond accordingly.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — It’s easy to live for all the excuses we make for ourselves; the kinds of things shown in ads for prescription drugs or the soft drink that will make your life perfect. You have another purpose, and it’s easy to forget amidst all the confusion in our image-obsessed world. The astrological idea that defines you has a tendency to disappear; to have its meaning vanish; and to evade observation using even the most advanced methods. So it’s easy for you to get distracted and forget that you have a core purpose that defines your existence. Amidst all the hubbub and bullshit of our world, you can lose sight of the fact that you’re not exactly from here. You have taken up residence here. You have done so for a reason and a purpose. These days, you’re in a position where if you honor that purpose, you will notice that your life goes differently. Not just better, but connected to meaning.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Keep your home in order. Rather than cleaning your house in one crash event, gradually work to tidy up and get organized. In Marie Kondo style, do a little putting things back where they belong before you get to bed. Dig out a drawer or a closet every couple of days and notice the discoveries you make. We are in a very important year for your home life, and your home is center stage of your spiritual journey. I know every astrology book ever written describes you as the one who climbs mountains. I see you living in a splendid cave that opens to the ocean, with a view of both land and water. Speaking of water, take care of your plumbing fixtures. Make sure everything works properly and repair what does not. The influence of water is arriving in your home, and your part is to have a conscious relationship with it. Make your bathroom into a cushy little spa — and use it well.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Does it ever end? Well, that’s the one thing you don’t want, though it’s worth saying out loud that the digital environment breeds work at the approximate speed of a mushroom farm. This is happening at an increasing rate when time is of the essence and resources are tight. Therefore, you must become a master of two skills: pattern recognition and efficiency. Sadly, these are skills that go above the proficiency of most people, and happily, you just might not be one of them. At least you have the capacity to learn, if you can admit that you might not possess these abilities or fully recognize what I am talking about. So to this short list — thing one, pattern recognition and thing two, efficiency — I would add the art of knowing when you don’t know. This may be the most important skill in the history of consciousness. Pride is its worst enemy — everyone is an expert these days, and most of them cannot respond to a simple question in their own field about what they do every day. Does this describe you in any way?

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You are now (almost) in a position to take some bolder risks. If you found yourself laying low through most of March, that was the right call. Keep it that way for a little while, though get active making preparations for some major changes and financial adjustments. The most important thing you can have is a realistic picture of where you stand on matters of cash, cashflow, credit and debt. It doesn’t matter what they are — you want the numbers. Then you can evaluate them. There will be some financial mysteries lingering until other changes shuffle into place over the next month or so; therefore I suggest holding off on making major commitments till you have a more realistic view. That said, be alert for situations that seem to defy the facts, but work intuitively. And even then, it’s necessary to conduct a basic diligence inquiry and then to use what you know.
