Mercury Retrograde Underway
Dear Friend and Reader:
Two things happened around this event — first, the U.S. federal government closure deadlock was resolved, though nobody really understands the terms of the deal or why it was closed in the first place. If this were sports, nobody would stand for it. The beauty of professional athletics is that everyone sees and understands the game. So the journalists covering it have to tell the truth about what happened.
Second, I associate Mercury retrograde with the revelation of information. And within two hours of a timed prediction I put into writing on Sept. 1, there was a burst of information in the matter of Pres. Trump’s relationship to “vacation coordinator” Jeffrey Epstein and various women who got caught in that web.
I covered that in a special edition podcast Wednesday and will have more comprehensive coverage on Friday’s edition of Planet Waves FM.
We have grown to expect wholly atrocious conduct from “world leaders.” But I still wonder why people stand for this. Politics is “whatever the traffic will allow,” meaning the approval and acceptance, or the opposite, comes from the ground, not from the top. It’s astonishing to me how many people who have so many opinions about sex and sexual abuse are not furious about these revelations.
I guess as Lou Reed said in 1989 or so, “It’s hard to give a shit these days.” But for all the pearl-clutching and agonizing over “rape culture”…the endless scandals and cancellations…and then the real thing emerges and…yawn. This…is…digital. Nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about.

Fancy Beginning, Lunar Movements
The fancy flourish at the beginning of the retrograde was Mercury backing into a conjunction with Mars on Wednesday. This is a perplexing form of hot-headedness, potentially containing the ingredients of bad decisions and over-generalizations.
Yet at its best, retrograde Mercury conjunct Mars gives rise to real questions, including questioning one’s own opinion, or discovering that you overlooked a few things.
Meantime, the Moon is waning toward the new phase, on Nov. 20. This is an impressive lunation with Mercury making yet another conjunction — this time to the Moon and the Sun. So it’s a New Moon conjunct Mercury retrograde.
Before that: the Moon entered Virgo Wednesday evening. It’ll enter Libra at 4:43 am EST on Saturday, Nov. 15. Then it will enter Scorpio on Monday, Nov. 17 at 4:44 pm EST. The next day retrograde Mercury re-enters Scorpio, followed by the New Moon conjunct Mercury overnight Wednesday to Thursday, Nov. 19-20.
So far, Mercury retrograde is off to a rollicking start. More on Starcast above, and on Friday’s Planet Waves FM.
With love,
Coverage of Epstein File Astrology – Trump Reckoning 11/11
Wednesday I did a special podcast on what I’ve been calling the Trump Reckoning. This turned out to be a bipartisan data dump on the Epstein matter. Coverage will continue on Friday’s Planet Waves FM.

Aries (March 20-April 19) —Mercury retrograde is underway, and in the most basic sense this is a review. It lasts about three weeks, the perfect length of time. Most people do not look back on their affairs except in times of regret or nostalgia. This is more practical, though for you the topic is somewhat philosophical, and also personal. It’s about the intersection of religion and sex. While most people would claim that sex is the least spiritual thing on the whole planet, there’s a history to that. It involves religion claiming to know the truth about ‘creation’, which in the Christian world is about everything and anything other than sex. But humans do something odd, which is ascribe meaning to things. Sometimes it’s abstract and sometimes it’s natural. What is the spiritual meaning you place on sex? Does it hold up?

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Taurus can have a misty view of relationships and commitment in particular. Then when things get emotionally intense, complicated or deep, this can take you by surprise. Your solar chart gives a useful picture of the ways in which you have merged your identity into someone else. This may be at peak intensity at the moment. It doesn’t matter if you’re involved with them now or if you were in the past. This is all about thought and feeling, and your sense of personal reality. What you can do with your perspective is to see life from the viewpoint of someone you’re involved with. This happens all too rarely, while over-involvement and identity confusion happen all the time. You may need to do this as an act of will, focusing on all you know about another person’s life and position in the world. Try to skip all the sex-war inflected judgments and generalities about gender. Those are merely a coverup.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) —Your ruling planet Mercury is now retrograde, and this will last for the rest of the month. It’s the perfect setup for good therapy. You can size up your point of view and your sense of being and make some important adjustments. There is a theme running through the sky about seeing things from the other person’s standpoint. (This is about Venus being in its opposite sign Scorpio and Mercury retrograde involving its opposite sign Sagittarius). The ‘bubble mentality’ of a world driven by algorithms is that one is only supposed to care about the very things one allegedly cares about and everything else be gosh darned. This is less about not giving a toss and more about not paying attention to the fact that other people have other views — and they may even be valid. You may be able to learn something. In the 21st century, that’s outright shocking, but it may be true.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Mercury retrograde is usually a challenging time for most people. Such occurs about three times a year for three weeks, and each is always far away from the next. So they are all different; they all have their own peculiarities. And sometimes they can work out very well. Under the best conditions they act like a time out of time, where you can be sheltered from the usual weirdness of the world. I’ve used the term review phase many times, and that holds true, but it can also feel like being in a space off to the side of your own life where you can get a lot done that otherwise seemed difficult. Of course for this to make a difference, you would have to notice it. You would have to be paying attention and not believe that life is a machine-made cookie, each one exactly like the previous one, and the next.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You may feel more inclined to keep to yourself, to hold your secrets and generally have less to say. This is a picture of Jupiter retrograde in the most sensitive and cloistered area of your chart. Yet to withhold from others is to withhold from yourself. Jupiter is urging you to deepen your self-knowledge. If you embark on this sincerely, you will go well beyond personal knowledge and into what can rightly be called ancestral knowledge. This is a very different branch of awareness than the usual in-your-face identity issues that confront us all the time, and which remind us how tattoos are only skin deep. There is an aunt or uncle, from some prior generation, trying to get your attention. Listen within and you will learn much about yourself and your origins.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Unusual activity in your sensitive home and security angle may be stirring up old anger. It may take you by surprise and likely already has. The question is, what is this really about? Why (besides astrology) is it coming up now? Here is my theory. Like most of us, you were deceived about who you are. You had special awareness and yet grew up around a lot of muggles. You know your real home is the universe itself and not a building on a planet. Your true relatives are the human family, not just the people you grew up around. And most people don’t see that — and cannot even conceive of it. So you had to hide the part of yourself that was aware of this truth of existence. That may have meant hiding it from yourself. It will be worth slipping out of any anger and into the deeper underlying truth that it conceals.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — This has been a very unusual and intense year. The reason for this is planets piling up, and lining up, in your opposite sign Aries. Borrowing a joke from the late great Patric Walker (your fellow Libra), you’ve seen more alterations this year than a dress shop during prom season. People are changing, the world is changing, there is a kind of collective meltdown going on, and you are trying to maintain balance. Yet it’s much more than this. You are among the few places where people find some stable ground mentally and emotionally. Being in balance is a theme of your life as a Libran and you know this is a real thing. And though it’s said that you don’t make decisions easily, you will benefit from that circumspect and thoughtful quality as events work themselves out in several stages over the next six months.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Make the most of the Sun transiting your sign for another week and a half. With water signs especially, you need the influence of water, and you have it. This will peak with a highly unusual New Moon in your sign on Nov. 20. Between now and then, you’re in an unusual position to have difficult discussions with close partners and anyone with whom you share a bank account or any investments. And this would also include those with whom you share confidential information. You are way too reluctant to divulge your personal truth, often using some form of “national security” excuse, or out of a desire to concentrate power. Please, forget it. The times we are in, and the times you are in, are calling for transparency and trust. But this leads to another question. Do you really trust the people in your life? Why or why not?

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Retrograde Mercury is now conjunct Mars in your sign, and this may represent a total reversal of a point of view, opinion or approach to life. But don’t sell the house or cast anyone out. Hold off on action until you have more information. Mars wants you to jump to conclusions that are not fully supported right now. You are missing information, and you need to accept that fact. If you can be patient and keep your ears on and your eyes open and your heart warm, you will be told everything you need to know. The time to act is in a matter of weeks or more, with Mercury retrograde over and back in your sign. That would be much closer to mid-December. Always pay attention to the fact that you, in particular, are likely to gloss over the fact that there are essential facts and opinions that you are not aware of.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Something seems to be bothering you but it’s difficult to say what. You seem to get a sense of what it is, and then it’s gone. It eludes your mental grasp, though your intuitive senses have a much better notion of what it is. Be aware of seemingly mild anger that masks over much deeper rage. The ego conceals the more intense feelings that live below the surface of ordinary consciousness. This is often to protect self-image or to be socially acceptable. Being a little miffed is OK but nobody wants to feel like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. Then maybe you have a dream of breaking glass or of being a hellfire and brimstone preacher in a megachurch. Or perhaps some question too deep to ask under normal conditions makes itself known.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — A complicated and extremely rare planetary pattern connects to Pluto in your sign, though the intensity has turned down during the past month or so. Then when you least expect it, suddenly it’s right there again. Your solar chart and very likely your natal chart are describing significant changes in how you position yourself with respect to all groups. This would cover the spectrum from your family to the Ultimate Frisbee club to the dog park. While Aquarius is considered quirky, most are also on the conservative side, resisting change and often being reluctant to say too much. However, change is upon you, as is the need to say what you might never normally admit or reveal. You no longer need to let yourself be governed by what you think others might think, though to really test that out, you have to break some rules and violate the dictates of polite speech.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — A conjunction is the most potent aspect — two planets in one place at the same time. There are some famous ones developing in the longterm, though a fleeting one is lighting up the top of your chart right now (in Sagittarius), today, and these very days. This is providing you important information about your professional vision, as well as raising questions that you would be wise to notate and consider carefully. If things seem complicated or like they are going badly, it’s a temporary state of affairs. Much of it could be due to miscommunication both within yourself and in work or family environments. In correcting the record, start with your own mind. Get clarity about what you know and do not know, and what you want and do not want. Ultimately on this particular topic, yours is the only view that matters.

Very surprised you are dwelling on Epstein (a dog that just doesn’t bark or hunt anymore in my NSHO) , rather than the absolutely insane provisions tucked into the “Reconciliation Bill.”
The prohibition of all products containing anything containing THC, and the monetary protections provided to anyone in the Senate who had their phone records tapped. Mercury retrograde on steroids for sure.
Eric, thank you for my reading, it’s like it was sent from God through you.
This is a difficult time in my life and this reading kept me today from making a mistake that would have ended up costing me heartache !
I LOVE YOU ERIC, and I have since I found you in the 1990’s.
