Aries (March 20-April 19) — The current link between your ruling planet Mars and the soulful warrior Chiron is something truly special. Chiron spends about nine years in Aries and Mars forms a conjunction to it every two years. So this has happened twice before — in 2020 and 2022. It’s now happening for the third of (a total of) four times; the last will be May of 2026. Right now is your moment to take a big step toward completing the healing of your self-confidence. You may decide that you are ready for every task or cosmic assignment you hesitated on in the past. Chiron brings another gift, which mystic Alan Watts described as the wisdom of insecurity. True confidence comes with just the right amount of doubt to keep your mind engaged and asking real questions. No matter how confident a pilot is, they must go through their preflight check. A brilliant photographer makes sure they’ve charged the batteries in the camera, and a reporter will verify quotes and documents before going to press. Part of confidence is using care and skill.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You may be making so many discoveries about yourself that you’re wondering who you are. And since you prefer to be in a state of homeostasis — a fancy word for stability — that may be somewhat uncomfortable. But speaking as your astrologer, this will benefit you greatly. What’s happening is that Mars (motivation, self-assertion) is making contact with deep inner processes that have been developing for a long time. What’s happening is not about your relationships — please set aside that notion. It’s much deeper, about pressing and necessary growth processes that are finally reaching the point of maturity, and urging you to harvest what you’ve grown. Be prepared for discoveries about your sexuality. I read in a comment on a New York Times article last night that there is no longer an evolutionary need for humans to have a strong sex drive. I don’t think that’s vaguely true — and it sure ain’t true for you. Just remember that the drive to connect is best preceded by discovering yourself first.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You have a special — or rather, distinct — mission in the lives of certain people around you, though it’s best not to think too much about it. The essence is that these days, you’re serving as a catalyst for healing. And that’s especially strong right now, which may account for any strange reactions that you’re getting from certain people. It’s vitally important that you not push any issues, or strive for any results. Under the current astrology, you have more impact than you think, and it can be piercing. This is why it will help to let your presence do most of the work, speak in a calm tone of voice, and strive to do no harm. You may serve as a catalyst but you don’t need to push it. Your superpowers of thought, language and imagery are at their best.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — It may seem as if the lights have come on deep within your mind, revealing just how far the interior of your consciousness extends. However, here is one secret to understanding your birth sign or rising sign: in that space of inner awareness, there are many forms of mirrors facing into one another. No other sign has this property, and if you meditate on this idea, it may help you figure out why you had certain experiences, or perceived yourself in the ways that you did. The mirror effect is not merely an illusion. It’s a form of self-awareness (potentially the origin of self-conscious thought), though it’s much more helpful if you know that you’re experiencing reflections and not seeing “someone else” or “some other situation.” For a while, take the bold step of fully owning the contents of your mind and your feelings. It presents definite challenges (it’s not easy), but you have the opportunity to learn something that might only happen once in many lifetimes.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — As I’ve written many times, the spiritual path of Leo is self-actualization. It’s not about an external God but rather the full cultivation of your humanity and connecting with your divine essence through that lifelong journey. It’s much easier to pray to an imaginary being (which is what God is for most people). It’s easier to fulfill religious obligations, act a little pious, and call it good. It’s much more difficult to follow the long, sometimes troubled, often challenging, journey into your own consciousness and make contact with your humanity. That is where the going gets real, and where you go off the map and outside of the text. Ancient wisdom addressing this experience is often spoken in seemingly cryptic metaphor. But the contemporary poet, the late Robert Hunter, said it this way:

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who’s to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — We have all experienced the illusion of maintaining a relationship at the loss of contact with oneself. Often it seems every facet of society tries to push people in this direction. And it certainly seems easier than the challenge of doing what you know is right and taking responsibility for the outcome. That is only popular among those who are truly successful — which ought to serve as a vibrant clue. For months, you’ve been getting a message from your deeper mind about the path that you want to take, and the purpose of your life. Are you getting the message? Are you making choices in accord with what you know about yourself? Do you belong in the relationship(s) that you’re in? Once again, these issues have risen to full awareness. Your past history does not need to control you. You don’t need to live out your own injuries. They can just as well serve as sources of true autonomy, strength and fidelity to yourself.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — There are some people who are never happy, and you may resolve to never be one of them. That, in turn, would involve discovering the key to happiness. Look to the souls around you who are miserable, the few who are blissful (if you are fortunate to know any) and those who are engaged with their lives in a way that offers them some peace and freedom. Learn what you can. Fulfillment is less about how much you have and more about your ability to receive. Wisdom is less about how many books you read and infinitely more about your ability to understand and place what you learn into context. Consider the possibility that you have all the nutrients that you need, all the knowledge and all the material resources. The missing factor is to synthesize them into something original and relevant to you; to monitor your ability to absorb the value of what you have; and to keep a wide perspective.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You may be figuring out that certain factors are compelling you to deal with a matter of health or healing, and to address it now. While this may be about physical health, it looks like you’re being confronted with a challenge to your idea of who you are — such as discovering that you really didn’t know and now you must find out. This all pertains to what you do every day. One aspect of the critical mass point you’ve reached is that you cannot invest many hours a day, week and month doing anything that you do not value — or even love — and that does not serve the world. A crux point like this is a big deal. Few people ever truly confront matters of their existence, even in the last five minutes of their life. So if you dance with this one, and let yourself ask the hard questions, you may find that the answers are somewhat easier than you were expecting.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — So far as I can tell, based on decades of careful observation, every significant piece of creative art is born of struggle and crisis. That’s what makes it real, and worthwhile. The idea is not to court problems but rather to work through what troubles you. And recognize that what you do will change you, if it really matters. When you are dedicated to something, doing or creating that thing may push you to a crisis point. And you’re likely to find that you have the strength and grow stronger in the process. Your astrology has one message for you now: be bold when given the choice to stand out. Do what seems risky, creatively dangerous or inappropriate. All of those are moving measures. What is considered outrageous in one moment can be wholly accepted the next. So (thankfully) the current state of affairs cannot be a measure of what is in any way suitable.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — The world is in a massive identity crisis right now. And one of the ways that people, groups and countries are trying to work that out is with violent aggression. It would be good to be aware of that, so you know what is happening while it plays out. Meanwhile, this general topic has a deeply personal implication for you, which is to be gentle with yourself. You, too, are likely to be in an identity crisis, and your chart has one message of peace: don’t try to work it out as violence or aggression directed at yourself. That includes not being under the influence of people who may be in your environment who do that for you. Sidestep conflict and seek a peaceful space for yourself. It’s vital at this time that you learn to treasure your life, and your days, as your own. You are not a pin cushion or piñata. Give yourself the peace of mind that only you can offer.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — This week is likely to bring a moment of clarity for you; it may be well underway. You seem to be in a balancing act between identifying something as a source of pain and also as a source of strength. Chiron is involved; it can be both. The idea is to translate your sense of alienation into a sense of wholeness. Your wholeness comes before belonging, camaraderie, bonding or anything involving another person. Your healing process comes from right within you. Your sense of completion comes from within you. Your knowledge that you are safe comes from within you. This contradicts nearly all prevailing beliefs and relationship patterns, which themselves delay the healing process for many, many people. But they are not your concern; staying on level ground with yourself, and maintaining your own alignment with your personal truth are all that matters. Once you do that, everything will make perfect sense.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You have come to a point in your growth where your values, your priorities and your choices must be riveted to one another in perfect alignment. Then the final element is learning how to move with confidence once you know that alignment is in place. This gives you plenty of room to maneuver, because you decide what those different elements are about, in terms of worldly specifics. Yet your ultimate truth is about something that you tap into rather than something that is in some way variable or optional — and you will know you’re there because it feels right. This is the spiritual element; what you might call the cosmic constant. This is something you learn to tap into, though I know you’ve already begun. The essence of your journey is learning how to trust yourself and the messages of your inner teacher. Its voice will be as loud and as clear as your willingness to listen.
