Chiron-Eris, Mercury Direct and the Strait of Hormuz

Twenty percent of the world’s oil passes within a few miles of Iranian shorelines, which made attacking Iran an extremely bad strategic move, unless of course someone has an interest in escalating energy prices.

Dear Friend and Reader:

The global theater has served up the perfect metaphor for next week’s unusual astrology. In the space of about 48 hours late next week, we will experience the Pisces New Moon, followed by the third and final conjunction of Chiron and Eris in Aries for many centuries, followed by Mercury direct in Pisces, followed by the vernal equinox.

Now is the Time to Know When You Don’t Know

This is a tight spot; a narrow opening, that may require some maneuvering. If you’re dealing with important business or relational matters, you will need to be careful of one thing especially: knowing when you don’t know.

It is true generally that the world is suffering from a bad case of not knowing when it does not know. But it’s especially so right before Mercury stations direct. And even more especially in Pisces, with all of its scrims, fog and mirror effects.

The reason you wait for Mercury to change directions is that information comes out — information you will need to make the right choice. (Note that Pluto in Aquarius amplifies the “know when you don’t know” message.)

Yet you may feel like you’re under so much pressure that you have to take action. That is unlikely to be true. The effects of Mercury retrograde create pressure on the mind. The complications arise in how one is inclined to handle situations. Executive function is not a strong suit of the world these days, and it’s lacking in many people’s lives. Right now, strong executive function says: let’s see how this shakes out.

They are not pretending to be asleep.

The Chiron-Eris Conjunction: Awakening from Mass Insanity

This is the real eye-of-the-needle, the test of who is awake and who is asleep; who wants to awaken and who wants to go back to dreaming. Though it’s a bit of a cliche, it is true that “You can’t wake a person who is pretending to be asleep.” This is nearly everyone.

Without writing my 11th article on the topic, it’s worth summing up. This is the confrontation between the tribal, subversive chaos of the electrical mass media environment (dating back 100 years), and the self-aware holistic consciousness of Chiron. The choice to do something different, to shift your awareness somehow, could come in any or many forms.

Most of the chaos you are witnessing in the world is the result of electrical and digital overload. This is provoking a kind of mass insanity.

The first step is recognizing the toxic haze for what it is. Second might be recognizing the confrontation between individual and tribal described by the focus of Chiron trying to get a grip on the chaos of Eris. But remember: this is about an inner reality, and inner, personal experience — not some kind of mass awakening event. I have not seen that mass awakenings happen and if they do, they don’t usually last. But individual people can shift their awareness, wake up and look around.

You will learn about life!

How To Maneuver

Basically, play the game of life one move at a time. Yes, you can think ahead, but you don’t move a piece until it’s your turn and you’ve decided what to do. In intimate situations where there is some trust, we could be looking at a come-to-Jesus moment when the honest truth prevails. But you will need to assess that carefully.

If there is not trust, you have to handle things differently.

As my first legal mentor, then-third year law student David Hoffman said when we were involved in a high-stakes case, you answer the motions one at a time. You file the next thing you have to do right before the deadline. Then you wait and see what happens. Then, you respond to that.

Doing nothing (while paying attention) is almost always better than making random or uninformed choices, floundering, flailing, or checking out. Stay present and observe. Take the time to figure out where everyone is coming from.

What I learned from David among many other things is: when in doubt, listen. Engage a discussion, without revealing too much about your own advantages. Then, try to reason. I realize this may seem like a litigious strategy, when your situation might be intimate or personal. But there are times when you must be strategic. And part of strategy is de-escalating.

Just remember: you probably don’t know most of what you need to know. But you will by the time the Sun enters Aries on the 20th. So keep calm and observe. Meantime keep an eye on your bank balance and know your plastic from your cash.

And in Other News

World news has been a laugh a minute lately, and anything is possible. The unprovoked war-of-choice against Iran (initiated by whoever owns Israel) was begun under the worst possible circumstances. If I were Bibi’s or Pete Hegseth’s military astrologer (which thankfully I am not) and I wanted to sabotage the whole effort, I would have picked the date and time they used to launch the attack. It was that bad. I described it as a murder-suicide.

This narrow, concentrated astrological spot we are in reminds me of the Strait of Hormuz. This is the geographic feature that would make a 10-year-old student say, well, bombing Iran would be a strategic disaster. All the oil out of West Asia (the “Middle East”) passes right by Iran and they will just sink the ships or light them on fire, which is exactly what’s happening. This is why gasoline prices jumped 50 cents a gallon in a week.

The timing reminded me of the assault on Baghdad which began with the Sun in late Pisces on March 20, 2003. I took one look at that chart and thought: this was designed to be pointless and to have no exit. Nobody should start a war with the Sun in Pisces. Wait a day for the Sun to be in Aries, this way you invoke the god of war, not the god of Netflix, THC soda and super duper chill.

Which is how “they” are hoping that people respond. We might be able to stop this, but I don’t hear too much resistance.

State Your Position

And I am not surprised, since the grief is coming at us faster than you can print books by Elizabeth Kübler-Ross. Unprocessed grief is debilitating, and it turns into paralysis, and eventually into depression and rage. Bottling up sexual feelings has a similar result, and is held as a virtue (mainly by war mongers).

You can start by keeping your feelings moving, and stating your position. Try this on, in the words of my friend Nadine: “I do not consent. I do not consent. I do not consent. On behalf of myself and All My Relations, both mother and father lines, going back and forward seven generations, I do not consent.”
