Coherence and Continuity: Mercury, Cancer New Moon and Eris. Weekly Almanack and Starcast.

This week the astrology is like a deep exhale after the more fiery and confrontational aspects at the end of June and first week of July. Two fast but interesting events are Venus moving into Virgo (today) and into conjunction with the south node, as well as Mercury retrograding back into a conjunction with the Sun, marking the midway point of the retrograde cycle.

Face-to-Face With the Elusive Milky Way

This is the time of year when the core of our galaxy is visible from much of the Northern Hemisphere. Folks Down Under get the most spectacular views, but at least we Yankees get a peek for a few months. On Saturday we will experience the Moon-Sun conjunction in Gemini opposite the Galactic Core in Sagittarius, so this seems like a good time to float the topic.
