Autumn Equinox and the Torrent of Propaganda: The Truth is Internally Mediated

Dear Friend and Reader:

Autumn begins in the Northern Hemisphere next week, a refreshing time when the land cools off and the Sun enters Libra, the sign of balance.

This puts the Sun in contact with the Aries Point (by opposition), which is the place where the individual mind meets the wider society, or some version of the collective consciousness.

I used to say the Aries Point is the intersection of the personal and the political, which remains true enough. But “political” must be taken in an expanded concept of the total content of the internet — most of which is politically infused. That translates into deceptive or manipulative.

It’s one thing to decide that everything you read is a lie. It’s another to observe the nature of how it’s trying to get you to conform to an agenda. It’s another thing to be able to defend yourself, and yet another to get to the truth of something. That truth is always going to be about you.

Neptune and Borasisi on the Aries Point

As you know, Neptune is in Aries. At the same time, an outer solar system planet called Borasisi also entered Aries. They have similar themes. Neptune is about various shades of delusion, denial, deception, drink and drugs. On a good day it is about inspiration, but it’s easily corrupted.

Borasisi was discovered in September 1999 and takes 293 years to orbit the Sun (Pluto takes 248 years, so it’s one shade further out). It was the first planet named for a deity in a science fiction novel (but none of the discoverers can tell me how that occurred).

The novel is Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, a wicked satire that sums up the insanity of issues like nuclear bombs or toxins that pollute the whole globe. One of its themes is how the “truth” of science is deceptive and the “lies” of religion can be truthful. Lately I associate Borasisi with Plato’s concept of the “noble lie,” which is a myth told by leaders and billionaires to maintain control over the population.

Put these two ideas together on the Aries Point and you have a lot of broadcasting power for total bullshit. The Aries Point also suggests that the root of the issue is self-deception, which is why the prime directive of any spiritual path is, or should be, to know oneself. We might even add that as a delineation of the Aries Point. And this is not easy with Neptune and Borasisi hanging around.

Now Add Poseidon in Scorpio

One night I called up Martha Lang Westcott, the famous asteroid specialist. She’s also a Uranian astrologer and utilizes the eight “special points” that are sometimes described as the Uranians — mathematical entities deduced mostly during the early 20th century.

She jumped right in and asked me if I was tracking the aspect between Neptune and Poseidon (in mid-Scorpio) and I said no. Basically, her view was: this is the issue. This is the nonstop torrent of bullshit. Like Neptune, Poseidon can be sublime inspiration and higher truth. And it can also morph into a thousand TV commercials.

She was bold: the Neptune-Poseidon pattern describes what we are experiencing, the relentless, unending gusher of lies.

The two are moving at close enough speed to hold a tense aspect for years (called a sesquisquare). And now Borasisi is part of the alignment, so the effect is amplified greatly. And over the past year or so the Aries Point has become more involved and this magnifies the effect.

Don’t worry, it’s good for you! Dioxin explosion within a few feet of student rooms, at SUNY New Paltz, taken Dec. 30, 1991. Yes, I got very sick later the day I took this photo

The Tragic Observation of My Investigative Career

It’s easy to think that exposing the truth of something convinces people that the injustice must be corrected. Knowing the facts is supposed to be motivating, especially if they can help people avoid danger.

But working in many difficult situations, I have not found this to be true. Yes, some people respond and act in their best interest — but it’s always a small minority. Some care about what has been discovered and documented — but it’s always amazing when someone does.

Other people are angry and get their hackles up. Still others rage out and try to deny or disprove the documented facts. Others act on their financial or political interests. Others want to go along with the crowd; their social scene is more important than the fact that their land or their home is poisoned.

While the truth may exist as an objective reality, acceptance of the truth is mediated by one’s inner sense of being, one’s level of knowledge, and one’s various mental predispositions. That includes political: for example, if a certain political party (or that one person) agrees with something, then it cannot be true.

So in this important sense, objective reality does not matter. Belief seems to always preside over knowledge, most of the time and for most people. Knowing yourself is more important than knowing about objective reality because without one, the other does not matter.

Aries Point, Moon, Sun, Jupiter Neptune, Borasisi, Poseidon, M87 double sesquiquadrate pattern that I explain in the video above. It’s not so complicated really.

Neptune-Borasisi is Personal

Over the next few weeks, Neptune-Borasisi is going to get fired up. And this is very much a personal matter. It’s up to everyone to come to their own understanding of reality — and to accept the consequences of their assessments and misjudgements.

With the Aries Point, and Neptune, the usual routine is thinking something is true if someone else believes it. This is like following the car in front of you in a thick fog, rather than slowing down and keeping your eyes on the road.

The horoscopes for the next two weeks develop this theme, from the equinox into the Aries Full Moon a few days later.

Not everything is a lie, though we are all now faced with the seemingly daunting task of figuring out for ourselves what is true, and what it means for us.

With love,

Your faithful astrologer,
