This article is about Saturn square Uranus: the clash of two concepts of science.

Neither article is astrological. There is one major noteworthy event that I will cover in this letter: Saturn square Uranus. Note, these are all subscriber materials. Saturn square Uranus is a three-time event due to Saturn retrograde. The second event is June 14 at 13 degrees of Aquarius, and the third is Dec. 24 at 11 degrees of Aquarius. In a year of Aquarian astrology, this is a defining event. Note that Saturn square Uranus happens about once every 22 years and after the current pattern, next occurs in January 2043 (in Leo and Scorpio, with Chiron conjunct Uranus).
This aspect is the product of Saturn newly in Aquarius, meeting up with Uranus in Taurus. This is taking place in the fixed signs, for a little extra friction. Students of Chiron will immediately grasp the connection: in many ways, the first centaur planet is a morph of Saturn and Uranus, though with a little something extra added.
The Two ‘Rulers’ of Aquarius: Ancient and Modern
Notably, the two planets involved are both considered rulers of Aquarius. Saturn is the traditional ruler, and Uranus was arbitrarily decreed by the astrologer Raphael, or Robert Cross Smith, to be the modern ruler. No study. No research. He just declared it to be so. He published an ephemeris that bears his name, so he must have been right. I do not consider “modern rulers” to be actual rulers, but rather, planets with an affinity for a sign.
Sticking to a traditional approach, Saturn is the planet of structure, form and tradition. Uranus is the planet of revolution, invention, and disruption. Saturn is at its most powerful in Aquarius. Uranus is in an unusual position in Taurus, which is considered the sign of stability.
The square aspect — what I consider to be the most dynamic aspect of all — brings these two forces together in a confrontation.
What kind of confrontation? That depends on your circumstances and what some would call your density level. There will also be personal and collective manifestations. The keywords for a square are something happens.
On the collective level, we can look around at the clashes in society: vaccine cultists versus anti-vaxxers; the government versus the people; the news media versus the people; the tech giants taking over reality, attempting to consume all that was left after their 20-year nonstop gluttonous feast.
The Clash of Two Definitions of Science
Then there is a distinctly Aquarian — Uranian issue: what is the definition of science? Uranus is supposedly the planet of the scientific revolution. The first planet discovered by an astronomer, it made its first appearance in 1781, just as laboratories were appearing everywhere, and when industry was beginning its merger with research and corporate gain.
There are two definitions of science. The current definition is “whatever someone I think is a scientist says,” or “whatever a corporation or government claims is scientific.” That is the Uranus in Taurus definition. The more accurate term for this is political science, or science for profit and warfare. It may rely on laboratories, but it is arbitrary. So too is Uranus.
The Saturn in Aquarius definition is, “That which has been deduced and confirmed through the scientific method, of well-designed and repeated experimentation.” That is the traditional one, hooked to the scientific method.
Here is a definition approved by Sir Isaac Newton, prior to the discovery of Uranus:
Science involves careful observation, applying rigorous skepticism about what is observed, given that cognitive assumptions can distort how one interprets the observation. It involves formulating hypotheses, via induction, based on such observations; experimental and measurement-based testing of deductions drawn from the hypotheses; and refinement (or elimination) of the hypotheses based on the experimental findings. These are principles of the scientific method, as distinguished from a definitive series of steps applicable to all scientific enterprises.

Right now, these two approaches are clashing. You may not know it. The war is being brought right into your body. That’s because the current corporate, political definition of science is to inject people mid-experiment, which makes them the experimental subject. And it’s because this is being done without induction, deduction, careful observation, rigorous skepticism or even following the basics of the method (such as having a control group).
The Social Angle of Saturn Square Uranus
Aquarius has one other crucial role: it’s about social patterns. While people are busy being grateful that the government seems to be doing something about something, most are looking the other way as society is being wholly restructured, and meanwhile we are being told there is no going back.
It should be worrisome that for a year, there has been no school as we think of it, most places in the Western world (with very few exceptions) there is no summer camp, no going to church services, no going out dancing, no relaxing in a pub, no going to the library, no dining out with other customers, no going to a ball game, no theaters, and no concerts. Did I forget anything?
The French government sent out a directive ordering people not to talk to one another when riding the Metro. In England, you cannot have an overnight guest; you cannot even meet someone in your garden. Auckland, New Zealand just locked down for three “positive” tests on a device that gets 90% false positives on a good day for a claimed virus (by the “new science”) that well over 99% of people survive. Then we are told that weddings and holiday dinners are deadly.
If you breathe normally you are a criminal. If you complain or want to discuss the issues, you can have your social media account suspended or revoked.
I am wondering when people are going to notice that this is not a suitable approach to stopping a virus — most notably because it’s the only thing that it’s not doing.
I am wondering why there is no skepticism or rigorous observation to account for observer bias. In short, I am wondering why so few people care or are willing to speak up.
As Emma Goldman famously said, “If I can’t dance, it’s not my revolution.” Well, this is a revolution, and you cannot dance. We need a new revolution.
