The sincerity and sanctity of your creative, inner child can serve as your guiding light this year. Even in the midst of epic changes, the more you encourage self-expression in all forms, the more this coming year can be one of personal healing and joyful release. You’re ready for deep inner-listening; ‘soul work’ that some kind of artistic exploration helps to expedite. This is your path to greater harmony that enables you to serve others, in kind.

Your Week Ahead Astrology for Jan. 5-10, 2020
Capping off this week is the Cancer Full Moon and penumbral lunar eclipse on Friday, Jan. 10. This is the fully loaded counterpart to the solar eclipse that occurred with the Capricorn New Moon on Dec. 26. I say “fully loaded” because it takes place with such a superabundance of planets in the sign of Capricorn.
The Moon in Cancer opposes not only the Sun in Capricorn, but also Mercury, Ceres, Saturn and Pluto. All of those objects occupy a very narrow strip of zodiac real estate; as a result, they’re merging their energies and themes.
The Sun represents conscious expression. Mercury is the planet of intellect and communication. Ceres, a major asteroid, carries themes of food and agriculture, nourishment in all forms, motherhood and cycles of loss. Saturn is the lord of time, limits, structure and authority. Pluto represents compelled evolution, and the subterranean upheaval and loss that’s part of that process.
The Moon correlates to emotions, the subconscious, your inner child, mother, and cycles. Cancer is the sign it rules, making the Moon strong here — yet that strength can translate into heightened sensitivity to all of those other themes.
How will the little ol’ Moon reflect so much from these other objects? Perhaps through its ability to cycle through receiving and giving. The Moon governs the tides, and their ebb and flow offer a key metaphor: the Moon — your emotional body — does not need to take it all in and hold it; nor does it need to resist and repel everything. It can flow back and forth through those actions as needed.
In an era when so many people switch on and off with extreme suddenness (friending and unfriending on social media; saturating themselves with dire news reports and then going on a total media fast), the concept of cycling and flowing while still staying connected seems foreign. But the eclipse chart suggests this may be a key to moving through the weekend (which includes the Jan. 12 Saturn-Pluto conjunction), and beyond, with resiliency.
As you make your way through this week, see if you can keep the idea of gentle ebb and flow in mind. Eclipse events can help us to make leaps forward, yet they can also present stressful circumstances, opportunities and challenges. Chances are you will feel better the more you can take charge of how you cycle through your emotions: notice them and be present with them, but without letting them run away with you.
Much in our world today is frightening and edgy; there are many reasons to worry. To stay centered in your body, connected to your senses and breath, and aware of what’s going on is a balancing act. Yet it’s one that can offer valuable points of contact, traction, and inner reassurance that your choices matter.
Recent weeks have included a process of shedding and resolving old material. This week, as that process continues, see if you can maintain focus on where you’d like to direct your life. Or, at least, keep coming back to it if you find yourself drifting. Your past, your fears and your doubts all offer useful information, but they are not the way forward. They can only provide the contrast needed to see which way you truly want to go.

Thank you Amanda for timely advice that brings strength and courage and coming back to basics to get through this challenging time. To be the eye of the storm and not get sucked into the vortex of chaos. Keeping it simple and bring it home. The fires in Australia are like nothing i have witnessed in my 60 years and the constant updates of news can make people feel helpless (paralysed with fear) as witness when not in the face of fires. Those in the fire face have shown enormous courage and empowered others with inspiration to bring their best selves to this major challenge sharing their experience and demanding respect for what they know for sure, instead of spreading misinformation and opinions. United we stand divided we fall. It all comes back to home and community. I appreciate your view on the energy of these times.
Kind Regards Pauline
You are welcome, Pauline. It is not easy to bear witness to current events, even from afar.
I take it you are in Australia? I was just reading about the magnitude of these fires, and I am gobsmacked. May things not get too much worse before they begin to get better. And my all those volunteer firefighters stay safe in the face of the risks they are taking.
Beautiful. Thank you, dear Amanda. xxx
