Now featuring astrology, tarot or both.
Uranus is about to enter Gemini, and Jupiter is about to leave. This will be a solar year rather unlike anything you’ve experienced lately, with a combination of needed, exciting change and at the same time, newfound stability in the financial area of your life. This, in addition to the many changes going on in Aries, which I would call your “friendship sign.” I am now doing tarot cards for the signs, and you have the option to get astrology, tarot or both. Aries (March 20-April 19) — There are rare moments of bonafide self-discovery, and they always happen by themselves. Then there’s the part about how many people don’t notice at all, even when in the midst of deep personal revelation. So I suggest you pay attention to what you’re feeling, thinking, dreaming and saying. The kind of change I’m noticing in your charts is less about your journey through the outer world and more about how you experience yourself. And by that I mean what your inner awareness is telling you. Here’s the problem: Twenty years ago you would have known what I mean. Today you might not. The inner being has been squirted out and splattered all over a wide diversity of screens, which in the psychic and even physical sense, reduce you to nothing. So if you’re feeling any species of lost, lacking meaning, confused or depressed, turn your awareness back toward yourself. This is likely to feel uncomfortable. That’s how you know you’re doing it right. Keep going.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — The Sun’s alignment to the revolutionary Prometheus, incorrectly named Uranus, will shock you out of your pseudo conservatism and any need to impress others with how prim and proper you are. That’s a load of horse shit that can best be left in the compost heap. Just remember that whatever happens under the influence of Uranus is somewhere between an experiment and a lightning strike. The reticent, taciturn or image-obsessed facet of your personality may not like the sudden shock and reverberations of being rebellious. You might wake up with a vulnerability hangover: that feeling of oh my god they’re all gonna hate me. Well, hear me now: you’re lucky if someone remembers you, notices what you said, or is in any way affected by it. Anyway, social situations are mostly based on pink slime that passes for prime rib. Sun-Uranus is a summons to the artist in you; the inventor; the devil-be-damned pioneer of something new. But Uranus is the kick start, and you must provide the consistency and the stability to get anything done.
Uranus in Taurus was the Least Taurus Thing Ever (Special Feature).
Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Keep a pulse on your anger. It’s telling you something and you need to know what it is. And it won’t be what you think. So, summing up: 1) notice your anger and 2) remember it’s not about what you think it is. OK, let’s move on. The power source is your family history, and the trigger might be someone or something in your immediate background. It might be an idea that angers you; it might be a point of pride on your own part that someone seems to violate. The trigger is not what matters — getting past it is what makes the difference, to get to the underlying material. And that material is likely to be stuff related to the slimy, steaming mess that is the family of origin of nearly everyone crawling, toddling or dancing around on the planet’s face. Sexual feelings are involved; so feel them, and if you encounter embarrassment, know that this is the direction of maximum healing.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Notice the connection between early family influences and what is unfolding in your most intimate relationships. Most of what we experience in the realm of love and emotional exchange is set by the time we reach age three. Set, but not set in stone; programmed but not an algorithm. You retain your capacity for growth, though your senses must spread out in all directions — especially inward. If you want to understand a woman in your life, make contact with your inner woman. If you want to understand a man in your life, focus on your inner man and the condition in which he finds himself. The emotion to track the most carefully is guilt. Yes, it feels paralyzing; it seems to be proof of wrongness. Yet guilt is resentment directed inwardly. This might be directed at early caregivers who harmed or neglected you; but children always take on the behavior of the adults. Their tendency is to direct the malice at oneself. And this is nothing but disruptive. Once you understand the dynamics, it’s much easier to unravel the problem. But — not till then.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You are on the verge of a breakthrough that can only be derailed by some form of petty office politics or drama. Forget those people, walk quickly away from gossip, and focus on the task at hand. It took Edison 1,000 tries to invent the light bulb. So imagine the determination that took, and consider that you may be at about attempt 950. That’s the time to bear down and dedicate yourself to your single most important goal. And that means having some peace of mind, which, in turn, precludes any form of bullshit politics. There, I’ve said that twice. Now, back to our main plot. The way the forthcoming breakthrough works out, you may end up somewhere entirely different than you were planning. Your thoughts and effort may be going in one direction and the result is something entirely new and different. So don’t be attached to outcome; but keep your focus on your project.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Rather than setting yourself free from your current emotional mire, size up your situation honestly. Consider the past for what it was, which means looking at factors that so far have been invisible, yet have strongly influenced you. The intersection is where your innate self has encountered the demands of family and the teachings of religious organizations, whether open or covert. Put simply, you are not who you were told you are. The only reason you were subject to a diversity of limitations is that you were persuaded they were real. However, unpersuading and disabusing yourself of this conditioning is not a simple matter and many of the basic maneuvers violate all instincts. When an airplane is about to stall, the pilot must point it toward the ground to build up air speed. Every cell is screaming “don’t do that,” yet it’s the only solution. However, for you, the dive is inward, in the direction of what is called The Innate. And this is guarded by various layers of guilt, shame and embarrassment. Keep going.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — All matters of sexuality involve family. All matters of family involve sexuality. Families are fucked into existence, which only sounds crude because it’s true. The game that society plays — influenced by many sources — is that none of this matters, and it’s all too taboo to talk about. Then we wonder why we are so unfree not just in the area of sexuality but in many, if not most, if not all, forms of creative and emotional expression. As my teacher Joe once said, we have no concept what sexuality was about in the pre-Christian era. We have no concept of what it meant to relate to another person before everyone was contaminated by the absurd concept of ‘original sin’. Translated into plain talk, that term means that our souls are (allegedly) permanently stained (by sex) and we all require the services of one corporation to ‘save’ us. Whatever was natural and existed below that concept (and business plan) still exists, and is trying to get your attention.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — It may not be easy to talk about what’s troubling you, but the time has arrived — and you will feel better. First, know who you’re opening up to. You must trust this person, or be willing to dare. It may not be your primary partner. If you can’t think of someone, then make good use of a notebook. The subject matter seems to involve a family situation that goes back generations. It’s so old it’s taken for granted, and there’s a lot you don’t know. So start with what you know or what you suspect. If you have a family album, flip through the pages and see what the pictures tell you. From the look of your solar chart, there is someone who’s willing to be a sounding board. They’re likely to be considerably younger than you are, who can at least listen and offer you some feedback. Given your notorious insistence on personal secrecy, opening up may be a stretch. But it’s a stretch you need.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You may think that you have values and priorities, but are they really your own? Or are you constantly paying homage to the expectations of people in your past (or what you think they expect)? If you want to sort this out, you can. But it’s going to take some work, and going past the idea of a sacred cow in any form. To put it bluntly, you’ve been indoctrinated into a system of thought that is about religion and government, but which bears the romantic descriptor of family. I’m not saying this is wrong. I’m saying you might want to test this theory and see your values for where they come from; and decide if this is really working for you in any way. The people of antiquity (including your parents and grandparents) lived in one world, and you live in another. There is only so far that adhering to seeming tradition can get you — and most people have no idea when this is happening.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — The time has arrived to talk about what you have never spoken of; to say what cannot be said; and that means to have the inner focus to say what you feel. This is likely to involve long-buried or forgotten emotions. Said another way, you may be making a significant discovery about how you feel — and by that I mean a revelation that can change the trajectory of your life. Once you are real with yourself, there is no turning back, and if you try, you will encounter inner resistance. But I ask, what is there to resist? The kind of inner experience described in your solar chart does not fit well with the sleek, streamlined dimension of synthetic thought. An orange tree is complicated compared to Orange Crush. But you are not sugar water or a vitamin pill; you are a human who exists amidst all the intensity of emotional and sexual experience.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Your words are calling you. I mean focused, intentional words that say something you will not feel complete without saying. If you’re not a seasoned writer (by which I mean whole sentences and paragraphs with punctuation), this will feel awkward at first. Yet there is significant momentum in your solar chart calling you in this direction. It may not be your job but it surely qualifies as a vocation — as a calling. Audience does not matter, though you may want to have someone in mind (real or imagined) to whom you are writing. I’m describing an astonishing collection of both planets and special events in Aries, your solar 3rd house. Aries at its best is about self-discovery and actualizing the inner person you contain. There is so much movement, energy and pressure accumulating within you that you need an outlet — and a method of getting to know yourself. You might start with the morning pages exercise in The Artist’s Way.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You may be feeling edgy. The mighty Saturn is lingering in the last fraction of a degree (properly, arc minutes) of your sign, and is about to head into Aries. That’s your financial house — the one that addresses your cash flow, your movable property, the tools of your trade and most significantly, your values. Fortunately for you, this happens to be Aries, the sign of initiative (getting things started), self-awareness (which implies development) and this thing that you could describe as chutzpah, moxie or derring-do. What more could you want? Two things: sound judgment, and follow through. Both of these call out for extreme awareness of your surroundings, and of the digital environment in which we are gasping for spiritual oxygen. Cutting to the chase: get busy, without making ‘final’ commitments to goals or to people just yet. When a situation is mature, you will know it; when a situation is right, you will feel it. Then, take action.
