Moonshine Horoscopes -- Scorpio Full Moon Edition
Dear Friend and Reader:
Underwater steam vents and subterranean rumblings characterize the Scorpio Full Moon, which is exact Wednesday, May 14, at 3:16 pm EDT (view the full chart here). Genevieve Hathaway has interpreted this lunation for each of the 12 Moon signs in her horoscopes below.
To read Genevieve's horoscopes, it helps to know your Moon sign (where the Moon was at the moment of your birth), which you can find out by entering your birth data into Serennu.com. Often you can still get accurate Moon sign info even if you lack your exact birth time. You can also read these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional insight.
For this particular Full Moon -- the first after the recent eclipse series -- we have the Moon at 24 Scorpio opposing the Sun at 24 Taurus. The Taurus-Scorpio axis always evokes deep sensual and sexual themes. Taurus and Scorpio are fixed signs, however, so even when the planets and aspects involved are speaking of change, there's a visceral undercurrent of resistance to dissolve first.
Lined up with the Sun and Moon are about nine or so minor planets. Collectively they suggest that this Full Moon could be a transformational experience, particularly involving erotic energy. These minor planets also underscore themes of power dynamics, especially what we do with power and the fear that accompanies power -- all facets of sexual encounters.
Yet everything described by the minor planets is present in one major aspect occurring simultaneously with the Full Moon: Venus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. We can boil this aspect down to: if we're afraid of changing 'how things have always been' (Pluto in Capricorn), we end up being too selfish (Venus in Aries) to surrender to love and erotic energy -- and that blocks us from seeing that the change required must happen within ourselves, not in 'the other person'.
That is to say, Wednesday's Scorpio Full Moon carries incredible potential for a deep, wet, earthy, lusty experience that leaves you feeling fundamentally different somehow. But if you want to have it, you have to be willing to let go a little.
Yours & truly,
Amanda Painter

Aries (March 20-April 19) -- The current astrology is highlighting the dynamic between what you share and what you keep to yourself -- particularly when it comes to the sex you want and who you tell about it. I suggest beginning with yourself. Open up an honest inner dialogue, admitting a few, or many, truths to yourself about what you want and need in your sexual partnerships. If you run into sensations of fear or guilt around what you want, drop a few layers deeper and explore where those ideas came from, clearing away any outdated programming. Once you are candid with yourself, it will smooth the way to share sexual desires with partners. Ultimately, you are shaping your life in a positive way through tending to and sharing what you want during sex. Through these discussions, you are opening space for partners to fulfill those desires. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Tonight's Taurus question and answer session is open to all Taurus reading purchasers. You can listen to a detailed free preview of the reading here.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) -- Over this week’s Scorpio Full Moon, you are sorting out what may feel like two distinct feelings in terms of your relationships. This may come with sensations that you are vacillating between many emotions, though in fact they are growing out of two basic feelings -- love and fear. New patterns you’ve established over the past few weeks have you bumping up against an old relationship dynamic. Much has changed within your relationships and it started with you. As you work through the emotions you’re experiencing, an option is presenting itself to choose which end of the spectrum you’ll ground yourself in: a foundation of love or one based on fear. This demands a conscious approach to your thoughts and feelings. Note the sense of inner stability and quiet when you step into a space of love and acceptance for all involved in the relationship. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Gemini (May 20-June 21) -- I propose a question: How do you experience your environment? By environment, I mean your home, local community, work space, places you frequent, your favorite shops and cafes, your city. Does it support you feeling your best on a daily basis? Your current astrology is asking you to consciously assess whether or not each of the spaces you occupy, and the people in those spaces, is supporting you on multiple levels -- from the obvious (physical and emotional) to the less apparent subconscious aspects of yourself. Quite a few options are available to you to change situations that do not fully nourish you, though they may not be initially apparent. There is something in the chart about letting go of an old perspective or way of thinking. As you do, one or more ways for you to enact change will become accessible to you. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Cancer (June 21-July 22) -- You are being called to take an emotional risk on a situation with someone you’ve known for quite some time. This may feel less like a risk and more like an uncertainty. What you are bumping up against is the need to be real: showing your cards, your position and what you need, then holding space for the other person to do the same. The sense of anxiety comes from not knowing how the other individual will respond. I suggest shifting your perspective to place the focus on sharing yourself rather than needing a certain outcome or specific information from the other person. There is always a risk involved when you are real, but there is also an opportunity to find the people you genuinely connect with. Think of this as finding your tribe, those people who love and accept you for who you are. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) -- You may not always think of yourself as a confident rebel, though I suggest you get used to the idea. For some time, you’ve been applying to your life a few new concepts about what it means to you to live as a healthy individual. Many of these ideas and perspectives you’ve been working with are pushing you beyond the status quo. For you this may feel like your natural growth trajectory, though for many around you it seems quite revolutionary. They are looking to you for ways to apply these perspectives and approaches to their own lives. Leading by example involves actively living your ideas, putting them into practice. I suggest not giving any credence to feelings or thoughts of doubt that arise about whether you can be a leader. You already are in practice, now you are just naming the thing you do. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) -- For you to feel emotionally satisfied there needs to be an aspect of precision in all facets of your life. At the moment, you may feel a particularly strong desire for exactness in your conversations. Don’t mince words or dance around issues. And don’t let others act in this fashion. Many people spend much of their lives feeling afraid of saying what they really think. This can develop into a pattern that may be unconscious. I suggest not viewing other parties’ lack of clear communication as an intentional deception. Apply grace and patience as you continue to carve out an accurate picture of what the other person is trying to communicate, as well as what you are trying to get across. Ultimately, this clarity will bring both you and the other individual a greater sense of emotional stability and grounding. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) -- You are working the fine edge of a situation, a seeming seesaw between a healthy sense of who you are and a group dynamic that is blurring the lines. As with any seesaw when both sides are of equal weight, the board can balance perfectly in the middle and both sides gain equally. In real-life application, to reach this kind of equilibrium both sides must understand and respect each other’s needs and boundaries. As you continue to rework the situation to find this point of harmony, I suggest focusing on what matters most to you and conveying that in a direct manner. I propose that you view the arrangement not as anything set in stone, instead taking the longer view of the potential for renegotiation and greater clarity around boundaries for all involved. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) -- The astrology over the Full Moon is highlighting your relationships, more specifically where your relationships end and you begin. I suggest flipping that idea around and beginning with yourself. Consider the perspective that the relationship with yourself is your most important relationship. I don’t mean in a selfish or narcissistic way, rather that taking care of yourself will provide to you more resources to share with others. Strong partnerships can grow out of this position. Working from this philosophy is easiest when the other person also subscribes to the idea. As you shift to a healthier individual-focused relationship style, look for partners who also live in this space as a daily practice. This may involve clearing the deck of some relationships that are holding you in your old mindset. Each of these actions is making a statement about who and what you want in your life -- trust that the universe is listening. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) -- Currently, your subconscious may feel more like the delta of a great river. A space where much material is being deposited, and building up to form channels and land masses. Think of this sediment being deposited and built as information. Cumulatively over time, it amasses into tangible, clear ideas. And those ideas combine together to form your vision. The question that follows is: what will you do with that vision? For a Moon sign that is often associated more with the big picture than with details, you have plenty of tools at your disposal to do the small things necessary to apply your vision. With focused precision, work on a plan that goes to the very ground level, the day-to-day tasks needed to build your idea. Combined with the powerful creativity at your disposal, you have the perfect alchemy to manifest even the most complex dream. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) -- Saturn has been moving through the area of your chart that focuses on your groups, unwinding your sense of identity from that of the group mentality. At times this may have felt like you had to go down deep into your psyche to dig out the substructure of the mental ideas and perspectives you used to associate with, before laying new foundations. You’ve had to apply a significant amount of your energy to reach that deep. During this week’s Full Moon in Scorpio, you are in a time of culmination and seeing how far you’ve grown. You’ll have an opportunity over the coming months to further separate your sense of self from the organizations and people you are a part of. For the moment, enjoy how far you’ve come. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) -- During this week’s Scorpio Full Moon, I suggest you carry around a little notebook and pen with you. Inspiration is coming in what may feel like a rapid-fire style: one idea after the next bursting onto the scene of your mind, accompanied by a flash of energy that may manifest as excitement or passion. Don’t try to slow the process down to make plans.
Instead, record what ideas come to you and sort out the details later. You are in a moment of tapping into your connection with your higher self. Think of it as a creative brain dump, pouring out the contents of your creative spark. Once you’ve emptied the container you can then examine the pieces you hold and see which to keep, which to merge and which to build on. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) -- Sit down and take stock of the projects you’ve been working on. Reassess and reprioritize your goals. Which are the goals you wish to accomplish in the near future? I suggest acting on those objectives over this week’s Full Moon, when an opening will enable you to make rapid headway on a few of these projects. Remember, you have a finite amount of time and resources, so plan strategically which goals to tackle first. Then ask for results through action. I don’t mean a small step; rather, send that email or make that phone call or decision that seems like a big risk -- where someone important could say “No.” Open the space for people and organizations to respond in a positive manner by pulling back your projections of a negative outcome. Trust that what you desire is worth manifesting. -- by Genevieve Hathaway
