Aspects Project
.......This is part of the weekly and monthly horoscope. Writing the horoscope is not as mysterious as it seems, and if you want to help, you are invited. Planet Waves is based on astrological aspects I find in conventional horoscope charts (and others, using Star*Sprite, a Macintosh animation program) and the ephemeris (including planets, nodes, asteroids and Centaurs).
.......This is a project that anyone can take part in, if you know how to read basic astrology, or if you want to learn basic astrology. You would most likely be working directly with Eric. Perhaps you've been looking at the Spring Equinox chart and see a theme that you think would be good for the column, or for an article. Perhaps you want to look through the ephemerides and the charts, studying the eclipses and the other lunations, and see if you spot anything interesting, and the take a shot at what it might mean, for everyone or for an individual Sun sign. This will help you get versed in the language of astrology, the use of astrology, and the creation of interpretations. Substantial contributions will be credited as "Additional astrological research by_____."
.......The horoscope also depends on interesting cultural references, quotations, metaphors, parables, funny stories and even images that relate to aspects. It is always helpful to have access to these as well.
.......Books that might be helpful in the astrological dimensions of this work are A Handbook to Humanistic Astrology by Michael Mayer (out of print but amazing), The Ascendant by Martin Schulman, and Astrology: A Cosmic Science by Isabel Hickey. There are others.

We need people to help identify contacts at newspapers, magazines and commercial web pages with whom we can follow up with our high-quality marketing propaganda. You can help by bringing Planet Waves to the attention of editors in your area, or of the national publications you read regularly.
.......If you know of any place that would be interested in sponsoring Eric to appear as a speaker or workshop leader, please send that information along to Connie as well. This link provides information about Eric's workshops, speaking presentations and classes.
.......Another way you can help is by forwarding the Planet Waves columns and announcements out to the astrology lists of which you are a member. There are articles on a wide variety subjects posted to Planet Waves, from marriage to dioxin. Fell free to point people in your newsgroups to this information.
.......If you're adept at working on the Net, you may also enter specific article links into Yahoo! and other search engines, add Planet Waves to horoscope link boards, and search out community or commercial ventures online that might benefit from publishing Planet Waves horoscopes and articles.

.......Christopher Grosso is now functioning as the Planet Waves news editor, and will be writing our major features. He also does broadcast journalism and is involved in other projects. If you are interested in world events, and the place where world events meet personal growth, this is the project for you. (A list of Chris's developing stories will be posted shortly.)
.......Perhaps you've seen something interesting on the Net, in the news, on television (imagine that!), in a book or in a magazine. Clip it out and send it to Chris. Perhaps you've got an interest in a specific subject, such as global warming, the chemical industry, genetically modified foods, animal rights, human rights, cyber-ethics or other currents of thought. Track the issue, keep a file, and let us know what you are doing. These little collections of information and viewpoints are very potent tools for moving consciousness. Hardly anyone remembers what happened yesterday. By tracking information, you can help research, write and develop Planet Waves coverage of world news.
.......Maybe there is something interesting happening in your area. One of our contacts in Seattle was very helpful with the World Trade Organization coverage, for example, and was able to be our eyes and ears (and video camera) on the streets. Head out with your camera and tape recorder, ask questions, and take notes -- but please get in touch right away. You may only identify yourself as a Planet Waves reporter if we've arranged it in advance. If not, just say you're a freelance reporter and are developing the story for possible publication.
.......Maybe you're really good at searching the Net and digging up tidbits, scrounging up obscure facts, or photographs. Maybe you're a document junkie. Maybe you know people who are. Maybe you like researching information in libraries and government offices, or are familiar with the Freedom of Information Act. Let us know. Your hobby may be very useful to our coverage.
.......If you've wanted to be a newsperson, this is your project. Do a very good job, are impeccably reliable, consistant and never flake out, and if you watch the world like a hawk and keep us informed, and you may be eligible for membership in the National Writer's Union, at our expense, and Planet Waves Digital Media press credentials.

.......Carol Burkhart in Chicago is heading up our astrological research team. She is your first contact if you want to do in-depth work on an area of astrology such as the Centaur planets, Mayan astrology, or something that is a developing passion. Carol will be involved in the study projects (discussed below) and our mailing list for astrology assistants, which we will use to discuss the astrological themes that come up in our research and readings.In-Depth Research
.......Eric is looking for people with a desire to focus on one or more of these scientific subjects as part of the research for his upcoming book: Fractals, Holograms, Chaos Theory, Synchronicity and Ritual. If any of these subjects get you going, please contact Eric.Study Projects
.......We are beginning with The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot, A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking, and Esoteric Astrology by Alice A.Bailey. This will be a group study project, done online and by phone. Eric will be orchestrating Esoteric Astrology, which is an ongoing project that will take six months to one year to get the hang of. Nida will be orchestrating the physics end of our study in the other two books listed; Carol will be introducing the Centaur planets.
.......If you are a beginning student of astrology -- that is, if you don't know the glyphs, the basic meaning of the houses and basic terminology, please get The Arkana Dictionary of Astrology, The American Ephemeris and The Ascendant by Martin Schulman to get up to speed. Please have your natal chart cast so you know what's going on in your own astrology, and can begin the process of really learning your own chart. You will have help.
.......If you are just getting into the field of astrology, then please familiarize yourself with some of the more obvious astrology links on Planet Waves, such as the 2000 section and sub-sections on technical notes and key life transits.
