Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope for August 9, 2001 | By Eric Francis Coppolino
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. However, we are in the two most intense astrological weeks of the year, and a strong solar wind is filling our sails. You noticed, right? Okay, please hang loose. People may be freaking out to the left and to the right, but in the center, it's nice and calm. Just as many people are experiencing this astrology as an amazing opportunity for necessary transformation. What we are dealingwith here is a combination of the Saturn-Pluto opposition -- this started in the past few weeks and lasts thorugh late spring, the first setup of its kind since 1966 -- and a wave of juicy stuff in the sign Cancer. I have written a copious missive on this, but the short shrift is this: make the changes you need to make now. There is a time for every purpose under heaven, and the purpose for this time is CHANGE. By change I mean making the decisions that you know will lead you to greater freedom and more options, even if life seems a bit more on-edge.
Aries (March 20-April 19) -- If during the past two weeks you have been overwhelmed by sadness or joy, or a mix of both, you can still use the momentum and focus of current aspects to home in on your creative life. These were some strange weeks, for sure. But w hat you think were distractions were not; they were, and still are, creative fuel. Of course, your world may be so rich and full at the moment you have little desire to work. And if that is true, don't let guilt or the odd moment of jealousy mess with your fun.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) -- If you try to do too much with your mind, you'll be sure you're losing it. Your mind is telling you to feel, because there is a lot to feel and it's likely to feel rather good. On the other hand, if you're turning into an anal-retentive cracker-coated ice cream ball left in the deep fryer too long, try asking someone to pour a couple of gallons of warm water on your head, preferably standing naked in the bright sunlight.
Gemini (May 20-June 21) -- There is nothing I could possibly say or do to get you to wake up and pay attention to the real potential of this moment. That be your job. Yet I can tell you, hopefully with the persuasive force of a fatline connection to the stars from here in my fortune telling booth along the boardwalk of life, that you are presently blessed with something extra, a major, extraordinary something extra, and with the power to rethink very important components of who you are. But to do that, you need to recognize some things about who and what you think you are, many of which are, well, wrong.
Eric has now published your complete Gemini birthday reading, comprising well over an hour of excellent insights. Order here to get instant access, whether for yourself or the Gemini you love.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) -- The value you put upon yourself is represented in the decisions that you make. So monitor your growth by noticing what you decide. You are indeed making a lot of decisions, and you are running higher on the personal value meters than normal, though do the two match up? Check carefully. I fear some old habits may be guiding you. Get rid of that stuff now! Get into NOW, now! Don't worry about what other people think, please, or how stupid they are, tempting though it may be.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) -- In honor of Leo birthdays, I want everyone to gently kiss one kitty every day, and tell them how beautiful they are, and stroke the soft fur between their ears, and listen to them purr while you admire the expression of pleasure on their regal face and give them a can of pink salmon or better yet, cook up some fresh fish, and enjoy it with them, and be part of the awesome wave of good fortune that is about to move through their lives in the coming 12 months. These people are clueless about how good it's likely to become, they are likely to be taking life a little too seriously, and need a good dose of pleasure therapy.
The first astrology segment of your 2017-18 Leo Birthday Reading by Eric is now published. This is a seminal year for Leo Sun, rising and Moon, especially with the upcoming powerful solar eclipse in your sign. Make this dynamic energy work for you -- order your reading today.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) -- Does anyone remember that old poem about 'dreams deferred'? The ones that become raisins in the sun? You have been dreaming -- you saw yourself in a vision recently, felt an image and a potential reality of yourself as much more than you currently believe yourself to be. Then, it seemed to vanish, as dreams do. But it's your job to remember your dreams and your desires, elusive though they may be. I believe you need, more than anything, to understand how you are already what you strive to be the most, which means to connect one reality with the other. This is called awareness.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) -- The only risk you face is allowing that infamous rumored (and usually true) Libran propensity to deliberate to delay some choices that are, at the present moment, very difficult to make wrong. Basically, you are overwhelmed, but if you notice carefully, you will see that you're overwhelmed with a kind of good fortune that is not exactly luck; it is more like a blessing, but of course in our culture we don't believe in blessings. This is disbelief a dysfunctional belief. If you believed in blessings, you would be a lot more inclined to make that career change you've been pondering.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) -- Well, well, um, I dare not speculate too much here, and I do wonder what it feels like to be the human blow torch tuned to the melting point of stone. Alternately, I wonder what it feels like to be the living incarnation of the modern mystic that you have somehow become. I don't care if you work in the post-audit department of the Microsoft 401-K department; you are infused with a passionate desire for righteousness, a clear view of the unseen worlds, a divine sense of your higher self -- and the power to change the world.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) -- You can continue to hold your ground in one particular struggle, though now is a good time to ponder which aspect of the struggle is your own, and which belongs to somebody else. There are indeed much better things to do than fight, and you are clearly set up to receive from others right now: so choose carefully what it is you take on, because you can indeed choose. It could be very good things that you choose, it could be a big pain in the ass. We don't always get such clear options.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) -- One of the more delicate missions we all face in life is figuring out how to allow others to affect us and effect us without allowing them to blow us to bits. But the force you so clearly feel that is compelling you to change is very much an internal phenomenon. It is the core essence of who you are, emanating from the unseen dimension of who you are, compelling you to make some major changes in the way you negotiate reality, and indeed, in what you think of as reality. You also have the option to be terrified of yourself.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) -- We all think we face the pressure to yield to the "community standard" and to form our conceptions of who we are based on some sense of common decency, and we often resent it. The rest of what we believe, we got from our parents and teachers, who think they got it from the community standard, but who really got it (mostly, anyhow) from their teachers and parents. I propose that these sources (and their own inner voices) were/are wrong, they have no business laying out the bottom line on the worth of a human being, and at this point in your life, the larger cultural norm is actually on point. In other words, listen to what your friends are saying to you.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) -- These are daring times, so I suggest you live daringly. Some would say these are scary times and suggest that you live sheepishly, but they have b-o-r-i-n-g agendas. You have an interesting agenda, you are making some interesting riffs and of you keep jamming you're going to come up with some excellent songs. There are those times in life when we have to worry less about what we are supposed to do and invest more in what we need and want to do, and congratulations, this is such a moment. So give that creative fruit a nice squeeze and taste the juice.
