Corrections to Today's Issue
Dear Friend and Reader:
Among the several small errors in today's edition was a big one -- quotes of H.H. the Dalai Lama were attributed to Adam Yauch. Adam actually conducted the interview. Here is the
corrected version of the page. Please do not forward the email edition you received earlier -- and please forward this correction to anyone to whom you may have sent the original issue.
It has been a rough month for fact checking here, beginning with the
Titanic issue (which has been scrubbed over and should now be fine), though I'm aware of some problems going back to early spring. The number of facts that go into any Friday edition is astounding, once you start to list them out. Of necessity, as journalists we work close to deadline, and that requires us to be on top of our game all the time. There are extra challenges, given the technical nature of astrology.
As someone who lives on his credibility, and whose words are presumed to be factually correct (particularly on the Internet, where 'correct' is usually a matter of opinion), the problems of the past month are something that I find deeply troubling. I have created a set of fact checking guidelines, and we will be having an editorial meeting Monday to discuss this and implement the new procedures.
One of those is going to be distributing to a list of test readers late in the day Thursday, as a way of catching anything we might miss, even given the extra, more formal efforts taken. If you would like to be on that early distribution list, and help with the fact-checking process, please send an
email to Chelsea, who will coordinate that list. Please make sure that your email to her has Fact Checking in the subject header. We will send a note to the list outlining what to do if you see a problem.
Thank you for your patience as we work this out.
Lovingly,
Editor, Planet Waves, Inc.
