A Mercury-Mars sextile today should have you feeling alert and active, mentally and physically. Even if you're not so sure that you are, notice how your body is feeling. You have an unusually clear view of the past, which can point you toward a future that is sometimes difficult to see. Yet knowing where you've been, and how you feel about it, will give you an unusual platform from which to view the future. You may decide someone or something that was of profound importance in the past is now what it's time to focus on. You share a birthday with Elizabeth Blackwell, Robert Earl Jones, and Warwick Davis.
Aries (March 20-April 19) -- Today's precise meeting between Mercury and your ruling planet Mars says that your instincts will be spot on. However, if you remember your social conscience and your dedication to the good of humanity, you will be rewarded with extra intelligence and opportunity. It feels good to do the right thing.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) -- Remember how much you know, though don't be blinded by it. Your mastery over certain matters includes the knowledge that every situation is new. This moment, and this arrangement of people, has never happened before. Look for the common points, and notice what is distinct.
Gemini (May 20-June 21) -- Sometimes experience with a subject or issue helps, and sometimes it gets in the way. Right now, you would be wise to consider any situation with what the Zen-types call 'beginner's mind'. Listen with fresh ears, and question your assumptions. This is easier than it seems, if you pay attention.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) -- Remember, not every date or every relationship must be engineered to lead toward marriage, or modeled after one. It's not that marriage is inherently a bad thing (though that could be debated); but, more to the point, you want to keep your options open, and still have fun. And you can.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) -- You seem to be in a deep situation involving a relationship. If the question of permanence is arising, ask yourself what that really means? What exactly is commitment? And how are these things related to the idea of possessiveness? Hint: the past, the present and the future are different things.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) -- Take today to unwind and reflect, and then engage some structured social plans in the late afternoon or evening. You need some self-therapy time, preferably alone, doing something that helps you remember who you are. Reading will work wonders for your peace of mind -- it always does and always will.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) -- You may know things you cannot quite express. Rather than judge yourself inarticulate, meditate on what you're trying understand. Also, it helps to practice explaining things, over and over, till you get it into language a child could understand. That's a useful reference for adults.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) -- Family patterns run deep, though at a certain point they must run their course. It's not enough to say, "This is the way things always were, so this is the way they will always be." At a certain point, a thinking person must intervene. Listen for wisdom from the mouths of babes.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) -- An idea is likely to come through today; and, if so, it's what you could call "the right idea." However, it will not implement itself, or develop itself. You have to do those things. There's a clear sign from the astrology that this is something calling for bold, harmonious collaboration.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) -- You may be obsessed with money, yet you have everything you need, so tap into your existing resources. Start by taking an inventory of what they are: people you know, skills you possess, your gear, your ideas and, most important, your priorities. Focus on what you believe is meaningful.
