What do you need to dig into, investigate or persuade someone about? Astrology this week offers support in those realms, though with a caveat: empathy and a goal of mutual benefit need to be guiding principles -- along with an awareness of the potential for obsession and self-righteousness.

In this era of binge-watching shows online and falling down Google rabbit holes, it seems we're becoming acclimated to a certain level of obsessive behavior. That can be problematic when it comes to getting distracted when you're on a work deadline; or when an inability to avoid the pull of obsessive diversions undermines personal goals. When it becomes a habit, self-esteem can suffer.
Yet there's a time and a place for hyper-focusing. Many kinds of research and high-stakes tasks require it for brief stretches. If you're investigating a mystery, engaging in intense, penetrating thought could be the key to solving it -- as long as you don't fixate on one detail to the exclusion of others that might, in fact, lead you to the solution.
As Mercury nears its conjunction to Pluto in Capricorn this week (exact Wednesday), these are some of the themes to watch for. You may find your mind is predisposed to getting under the surface of something; perhaps what you say to someone will strike at the heart of a matter, or persuade them of your point of view. If so, being considerate of others' feelings, and not misrepresenting yourself, are important.

You share a birthday with Sam Cooke, Piper Laurie, and John Hurt.
Aries (March 20-April 19) -- You may notice a subtle change in how you approach people in authority, or your own sense of responsibility. Make sure you think before you speak, and seek opinions before stating your own publicly. Much of success amounts to a popularity contest. Know who your true friends are.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) -- If you're feeling the desire to take charge, and keep things moving on the right track, you've got the correct idea. People are looking up to your leadership, and you do in fact have a workable plan. Don't hesitate to take a little independence, focus the team and make some progress.
Gemini (May 20-June 21) -- There's definitely something pressing on your mind, and it may relate to a financial or contractual matter over which you seem to have little control. However, you'll regain your sense of power when you understand your options. Both devils and angels reside within the details.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) -- Keep a positive outlook on a business-related matter. Certain facts have yet to come to light, even though it seems like everything is out in the open. What still must come into focus is a way of seeing the situation where everyone agrees that a positive outcome would profit all involved.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) -- Close partners or love interests will reveal their expectations, which will give you the perfect opening to meet them. This doesn't involve making a compromise on your part, only doing your bit to remind others that you're responsive and you care about their feelings. That will go a long way.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) -- Experiment with your ideas using action rather than theory. Run small tests to see if something is viable. Keep something like a lab notebook, so you actually learn from your mistakes. If more people did this, society would emerge as a utopia. You, at least, can make your own life a better place.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) -- Keep developing an idea or concept even if it doesn't seem as exciting as it was yesterday or the day before. You'll soon be reminded that you were on the right track; or, rather, you will if you know an opportunity when you see one. Such would be the beginning of the story, not the final conclusion.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) -- You may become so confident of an idea or solution that you leave others out of the conversation.
