If Your Birthday is Jan. 10
(The Day of the Hard Look) | Capricorn Birthday Reading | All Other Signs
If you're sorting out the impact of a relationship that changed your life, consider the ways you've made choices based on what others expected you to do. The time has come to honor your actual goals and desires now, not what's based on some vague obligation. Your happiest relationships will be with sober, clear-headed people who know the power of words.
Current Capricorn Weekly Horoscope
Your sign is somewhat famous for a priggish attitude toward sex. That's funny, since you're probably one of the more sexual people you know, even if you veil that with proper attire and an insistence on seeming prim, at nearly any cost.

Current Capricorn Monthly Horoscope
Saturn's return to your birth sign describes a sense of completeness you have not felt for a very long time, if ever. Take a moment to collect yourself: a week or two of reflecting on your goals and preparing your mind.

Written in the Planets
With Mercury finally leaving its post-retrograde shadow phase today, all lights appear to be green for moving ahead with any projects you have in the works. Mercury's conjunction to the centaur Pholus means that even 'small' ideas can have far-reaching effects. Think through potential consequences of anything at all questionable. Mars in Scorpio sextile the Capricorn Sun is keeping the 'super-sextile' in full force: yet another green light for a wide spectrum of work to be done. Getting physical may harness the energy most fully -- whether solo or with others. The Moon in Scorpio could intensify your responses; own them, and see if you can channel those emotions productively.
The Art of Becoming is Becoming
Dear Friend and Reader:
This is an update on The Art of Becoming, my 2018 annual edition for Planet Waves. Last week, I produced an introductory video [play here], in which I review the build-up to this year's distinctive astrology.
|
In this special episode of Planet Waves TV [ play video here], I set the scene for the remarkable astrology of 2018. I begin with a recap of Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus-Eris, before outlining the forthcoming sign changes of several major planets. |
We promised the annual edition for "sometime in January" and with one exception (involving audio) I've always come through with that. What makes this year interesting is that, for the first time, I'm also writing a daily horoscope, in the New York Daily News.
The first items to be delivered will be the videos on Saturn, Chiron and Uranus (more information here), which will be included if you pre-order all 12 signs. These videos will contain details on how to work with your life cycles and really see what these transits mean.
I've now uploaded the first video, covering Saturn in Capricorn, though as of this moment, most of this work is ahead of me. So, please send some good vibes. Next will come my written presentations (possibly with extra audio sessions), mapping out in detail how the astrology of 2018 will look for each of the signs. This is my 20th annual edition, and your readings will get the full benefit of all my experience. If you want to get a feeling for how that looks, you may access the full 2017 annual here with our compliments.
If you'd like to dig a little deeper, you're invited to check out our previous annual editions going back to 1999 (here's a letter explaining more about their history).
You may pre-order all 12 signs for just $99 here. We recommend this as best value; note that you can share the readings with your household. Alternatively, you may choose your individual signs here.
Thank you for your interest in Planet Waves. As ever, it's good to be with you.
With love,
Daily Horoscope for January 10, 2018 | By Eric Francis Coppolino
If Today is Your Birthday
If you're sorting out the impact of a relationship that changed your life, consider the ways you've made choices based on what others expected you to do. The time has come to honor your actual goals and desires now, not what's based on some vague obligation. Your happiest relationships will be with sober, clear-headed people who know the power of words. You share a birthday with Max Roach, Pat Benatar, and Jemaine Clement.
Aries (March 20-April 19) -- Be careful what you say, what you write and, especially, what you publish. Limit yourself to saying only what is necessary. Cut your presentation short, don't volunteer information and avoid sensitive conversations if you've had even a single glass of wine. Keep spin control at all times.
"Self-awareness, both of your thoughts and of your conduct, is your most powerful tool to influence your experience of growth into the new forms that you are. This includes reaching deep enough into yourself that you make some contact with the aspect of you that is timeless and changeless."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) -- You're bolder, more adventurous and more imaginative than you let on, though you have no reason to hide your hunger for life. You'll feel more liberated if you put your quest to live fully right where it belongs -- front and center, all the time. Look for friends who take a similar approach.
"There is a genuine skill in creative mastery that involves standing back from judging what you've created. You might listen to what other people say; you might work until what you're doing feels good; you might take a swashbuckling attitude and not care; you might trust the fact that you always strive to do better (or any of these at the right moment)."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Gemini (May 20-June 21) -- This is a rare moment of potential harmony for various partners and collaborators around you, though your involvement is essential. You bring the catalytic agent: the thing that makes everything else possible. Your contribution may seem minor, though experience will demonstrate otherwise.
"You're the one who has to negotiate between your potential and what you do with it. This is an active, everyday challenge being a Gemini. The world can seem so much bigger than you are, and in one way it is -- but your mind is the thing that encompasses the world, all the world's people and all your experiences there."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) -- The beautiful thing about intimacy is that you never know where it'll lead. That's also the frustrating and frightening thing about it; you must risk getting hurt or being abandoned if you want to let in the love and passion that you seek. So take that chance if you want, and then take it as it comes.
"Notice your true feelings for people and make peace with the fact that you feel that way. You may have had a habit of resisting intimacy, and now you have little choice but to yield and open up to allowing others to touch your soul. In this way, you will come to the direct experience of growing into the soul dimension of your life."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) -- Do your best to bring your plans to fulfillment, and don't worry if developments later in the week seem to shake them up. The work you did will still count, if only for the knowledge gained. If you have a creative idea, hold onto it for a day or two and propose it when a new approach is needed.
"Rather than thinking of yourself as the entity that holds all the planets in orbit, think of yourself as someone who grounds the Sun into the Earth. This is actually what you do in the physical and spiritual sense, and it grants you some relief from the much larger responsibility of providing all the power and all the gravity."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) -- You seem to have something urgent on your mind, though a calm and relaxed communication style will work best. You could whisper the list of ingredients on a mayonnaise jar and have a deep emotional impact. You don't need to add any emotional emphasis. Just state the basic facts.
"There comes that time in any growth or improvement project where you have to ease back, have a glass of wine or even smoke a cigarette. Radical, I know. However, you're at a stage of your life where you must follow your own rules, and to do that, your rules must be practical and workable."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) -- Opportunities to improve your income may present themselves today, if only as ideas. What you need is flexibility, not being bound to a rigid schedule or responsibilities. How you earn your money is part of the picture; where you spend it matters more. For best results, invest in your home.
"Rather than being a clear mirror, relationships can often feel like a house of smoke and mirrors. This is especially a concern due to the experience of projection: ascribing to others feelings that are actually your own. Anais Nin is credited with saying, 'We don't see things as they are. We see them as we are.'"
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) -- Tune in and feel your potential. Remember that you must take the first step to make your talent into something tangible. It doesn't happen by itself. You must get up every morning and commit to your own success, build the support of others, and bring your ideas into the world -- today especially.
"The self-esteem theme, described by the union of your 1st and 2nd houses, is the claiming back of your natural desire as a birthright. If you are in doubt about what you want, or if you consider it a potential moral affront, it's difficult to feel good about yourself. For you, taking possession of desire is integral to your respect of yourself."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) -- You must not let your fears run your life, though it would help if you understood what you're worrying about. It may turn out to be that you're bottling up your energy and need to pull the cork. Creativity, happiness and success all depend on being able to feel and breathe.
"The overwhelming message of this series of South Node eclipses is that you must get beyond your own past, and find the present. Finding the present means sorting out your emotional reality to the point where you understand what happened, and what it means -- and use it as a source of strength rather than of weakness."

Capricorn Audio Birthday Reading is Ready!
Dear Friend and Reader:
Your Capricorn birthday reading is now published. It's about 70 minutes in length, in two sessions. This is your birthday audio -- an entirely different reading from The Art of Becoming, which will be ready in January.
You are living in extraordinary times, as a Capricorn or Cap rising. There's been nothing quite like this in your sign since the early 1990s, when the Uranus-Neptune connection passed through town. That was a while ago -- and what you're now working with is just as significant.
At the moment, the Sun, Venus, Saturn and Pluto are in your sign, which is building to a series of major events that peak in 2020. That may seem like a long way off, though time marches on. The presence of Saturn, the ruling planet of Capricorn, is a reminder to tend to your growth, shore up your foundations, and take your place in the world.
Saturn in your sign is helping to ground you in your real priorities.
In this reading, I focus on several key points of development, though none is as important as your relationship to your family, and your family history. For all you want to do in life, all the ways you want to succeed, and solidify your process of self-actualization: the family connection is essential.
This relates directly to your most intimate partnerships, because they're based on an emotional foundation that was laid in childhood. I provide specific information about how to work with these elements, and how to engage in productive self-therapy (it's not always so useful, but it can be).
Your reading includes access to last year's recording, plus your 2017 written reading (from The Book of Your Life), and a tarot reading that will arrive in about a month (maybe more, maybe less).
You can get instant access when you order the reading here for just $44. We will increase the price further when the Tarot section is published.
This reading is also included with the Backstage Pass. If you're not a BSP member, you can upgrade and extend your current subscription, and the Capricorn reading will be included.
Thank you for being a Planet Waves customer.
With love,
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) -- You are growing in ways you never imagined, which is offering you confidence you never thought possible. Rather than pushing yourself to succeed, focus on being open to learning and discovery, especially about yourself. You're one of the wonders of the universe, if only you would notice.
"If you're worried about your reputation, this is merely another way of assigning power over yourself to others. You cannot control what anyone thinks, and no matter how pure, sinister, friendly, loving, raunchy, talented or slothy you might be, people will think what they want. What they might think is not your business."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) -- You need new ideas about relationships, and they're arriving just in time. It helps if you let go of fear of abandonment, which is not easy in a society where people delete one another for sport. You know what commitment means to you. You can be sure that others share a similar approach.
"It looks to me like you need to call an end to a certain line of conduct or thinking that has been in your family for a while. The opportunity you have is based on the fact that you can actually see this issue for what it is. It's normally difficult to discern, and it's been masked or veiled recently by its prevalence in society. Once you have it in your sights, address it on the spot."
-- From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life -- which you can read here. Eric has now begun work on the 2018 annual edition -- The Art of Becoming. You may Pre-order all 12 signs or choose your individual signs.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) -- Are you noticing the calmer, more stable feeling that's in the air, and also in your body? Planets shifting into Capricorn have taken some pressure off you, and Pisces thrives on the earthy energy of that sign. Reach for challenging goals; then calmly make them real, one step at a time.
"You mean a great deal to the people close to you, and though they may not say anything about it, they certainly know it. If it ever seems that people benefit from you more than you benefit from them, rejoice in that fact. You need less than they do; you are more complete in yourself than most people around you; and anyway, that self-completion is the major theme of your astrology."
