Democrat Doug Jones defeated Republican Roy Moore in the race to fill the Alabama Senate seat left vacant by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Democracy Now! covered the news of the win with Pema Levy, a political reporter for Mother Jones. Meanwhile, our own Len Wallick examined the event in the light of the Sun-Mercury conjunction halfway through the present Mercury retrograde.

Today the Sun and Mercury make aspects to outer planets named after a divine couple from Tolkien's legendarium. Manwe and Varda are the King and Queen of the Valar (basically, gods). When they were together, Tolkien wrote, Manwe's sight and Varda's hearing were elevated. In a similar way, when the parts of our consciousness (which both the Sun and Mercury represent) work in harmony, we tend to function more cohesively. You can help this along by paying attention to what your senses and instincts are telling you; and trying to resolve any inner division that arises.

However, with Mercury retrograde, you must be meticulous about making sure your intel is accurate and your data is correct.

You may not think this is the case; it would seem to involve everything but. However, you won't know until you investigate and test the theory.

Rather, it would be better use of your time and energy to get a deeper understanding of your situation, and see what obvious problems might be easily solved. By that I mean no sweat, no pain.
