As Eric mentioned earlier, he's taking a well-earned break from recording Planet Waves FM this week. Thanks to all of you who've sent kind wishes and comments -- they are much appreciated. Today, we'd like to offer you another chance to listen to this enlightening interview with Robert Schmidt from July last year.

Robert Schmidt Discusses the Inventor of Western Astrology
Dear Planet Waves Listener:
Tonight we have something that's got a touch of history to it: an interview with Robert Schmidt of Project Hindsight [play episode here], who in July 2016 announced that he had discovered the inventor of Greek astrology, which means Western astrology.

From its beginnings in 1993, Project Hindsight tasked itself with the translation of ancient astrological texts, so that astrologers would have them to use and learn from.
Up to that point, the translations were nonexistent or poorly done, and the origins of Western astrology were hazy.
Eventually as his collaborators Robert Hand and Robert Zoller went in their own directions, Hindsight under Schmidt's leadership stuck exclusively to Greek astrology, starting with documents from the 4th century BCE.
Those include something called the Thema Mundi, which we discuss in the interview. There are images of this chart included on the Planet Waves FM page.
Through extensive reading and translation of the literature, Schmidt deduced that there were both founders and a founding era, and his research all points to a Greek mathematician and astronomer named Eudoxus of Cnidus (c. 390 - c. 337 BCE) as the leading founder, whose systems we still basically use today. The music featured on this recording is "Theme from Creation" by Brian Eno.
With love,

Aries Birthdays 2017:
A Reading From Someone Who Sees All of You
"You really understand the complexity hidden behind the often talked about Aries traits and speak about them in such a way that I can see myself as I am now, while also beginning to understand how I might be able to grow and change in order to one day proudly wear those ram horns in a positive manner!"
-- Beth Reineke, on last year's Aries Birthday Reading
Dear Friend and Reader:
If you have an Aries Sun, rising sign or Moon, the world needs your beautiful ability to take positive action more than ever. Thank you for being you, and for being willing to get things started -- whether it's a new level of deep personal inquiry, a physical activity, or some kind of art or social activism that connects your individual life to the people around you.
With Venus currently still retrograde in your sign (it will slide back into Pisces soon, then will visit you again), this is an ideal time to pre-order your 2017 Aries Birthday Reading.
Initially, you'll receive two audio astrology segments (at least 30 minutes each) once Eric has recorded them. A little while after those have been released, we'll let you know that the tarot segment is ready. You'll also receive an extended written description of your sign. Note that you get the best price the earlier you pre-order.
"As always, thanks so much for your presence and your work. Your readings have been spot on for me and I have followed you for a long, long time."
-- Mary Hart, Aries
Eric creates these readings specifically to ease your concerns, point you in the direction of your highest potential and motivate you in the midst of these truly trying times. If you'd like to have access to a dependable resource you can listen to as many times as you wish throughout the year, I hope you'll pre-order your upcoming Aries Birthday Reading while it's still at the lowest price we offer.
Yours & truly,
Amanda Painter
This Week on Planet Waves
Welcome to the Vernal Freaquinox!
As Eric writes in this week's Astrology Diary, among many interesting features of the Equinox chart is that the Moon is conjunct Saturn and the Galactic Core to the degree. This is a reminder to stay strong on your spiritual footing, and not to let your mind be seized by prejudice, greed or uninformed opinions.
What We Birth When We Are Fully Present
With the last exact Uranus-Eris conjunction in Aries on March 17 came another reminder to expect the unexpected. As Amanda Painter describes, the astrology is also suggesting you become more fully aware and present to how you can synthesize opposites. We may be in a time of birthing a new understanding.
Send More Chuck Berry!
Len Wallick offers a heartfelt tribute to seminal rock-and-roll musician Chuck Berry, who died Saturday in his Missouri home at age 90. Appropriately, his passing took place just as the era-defining Uranus-Eris conjunction in Aries was still exact to the degree, and closely opposed to his natal Libra Sun.
Proportion, Place and Purpose
Saturn is occupying one single degree of Sagittarius for about two months, the location of the core of our galaxy. As Len Wallick notes, implicit in that long conjunction is something accessible, yet not easily seen: a new place and purpose consistent with cosmic proportions and defined by what we together are.
Democracy Now! Pick of the Week
Donald Trump has unveiled his 2018 budget proposal to Congress, which calls for an unprecedented $54 billion increase in military spending while slashing environmental, housing, diplomatic and educational programs. Numerous programs to help the poor are on the chopping block, including Meals on Wheels.
