Planet Waves
Neil deGrasse Tyson on Sway in the Morning.
Neil deGrasse Tyson on the Making of Babies, GMO Fraud Exposed, the Virgo Solar Eclipse and Saturn Square Neptune

Dear Friend and Reader:

In tonight's edition of Planet Waves FM [PLAY PROGRAM], I reprise Neil deGrasse Tyson and consider what he does not know about biology. I assess a segment from an XM program called Sway in the Morning wherein Tyson reveals he does not know how long human gestation takes.

Planet Waves
Dr. Jonathan Latham of Independent Science News.
It turns out that a few days ago, The New York Times exposed how Monsanto recruited various academic scientists and professors to shill for how safe GMO crops are.

But then the web publication Independent Science News exposed what the Times left out of the story. It turns out that the connections run much deeper and into the tens of millions of dollars. Tyson is not named in either of these reports but he sure does fit the pattern.

I interview the editor of Independent Science News, Dr. Jonathan Latham, a molecular biologist trained in how to genetically modify things.

The rest of the program is dedicated to astrology -- the Virgo partial solar eclipse of Sept. 13, Jupiter opposite Neptune, Saturn square Neptune and other aspects.

My musical guest is the Philadelphia-based folk ensemble Maggi, Pierce and EJ, who I first encountered one evening in London.

Lovingly,

Evolving Relationships Within, Without -- and More on Planet Waves

Dear Friend and Reader:

Eric's Monday Astrology Diary for this week pretty much embodies the reasons why you visit Planet Waves and become a member. Rather than getting all technical about Venus stationing direct in Leo this past Sunday, he offers thoughts on how Venus and Mars are in a process of transforming a relationship in your life (or your concept of relationship).

And Venus and Mars are doing so with an emphasis on healing. I don't know anyone who does not need some healing in their relationships (including the relationship to oneself). Do you?

Elsewhere on the Planet Waves website:

Sarah Taylor charts a journey from a hall of mirrors to clarity, involving your ability to discern what works for you and what doesn't, and applying your razor-sharp vision to make new choices.

Apropos of both Venus stationing direct and Saturn in the last degree of Scorpio, this week's sex-and-relationships article comes from lesbian playwright Carolyn Gage, whose essay The Seven Temptations of Andrea Constand explores the perseverance required of Constand in following through with bringing Bill Cosby to accountability.

With migration a current topic in several countries, Fe Bongolan describes her own family’s intriguing past -- and argues emphatically and effectively for keeping the doors wide open.

In her musings on Labor Day, Judith Gayle weighs in on Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis' refusal to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples, noting that, "We are once again gnawing on the bones of an old sociological carcass that arrived on these shores with the Pilgrims."

Madame Zolonga's column will appear on Wednesday; last week, she offered instructions on how to tame a dragon in boss's clothing. Len Wallick's latest column published earlier this afternoon; I'll be back Thursday morning on the website with my look at the weekend astrrology.

Yours & truly,

Amanda Painter

P.S. Eric is planning to begin recording the Virgo Birthday Reading today. If you know someone with a Virgo Sun, Moon or rising sign who'd like to make more of life, you can still give the Virgo reading as a gift at the discounted pre-order price -- but that price will increase after the reading is recorded.
