<\/dt>\nThis year’s first trine from the Sun to Mars featured a busy Aquarius Sun in opposition to an equally distracted Leo Full Moon on Valentine’s Day.<\/p>\n
During the Valentine’s Day Leo Full Moon, the opposing luminaries were simultaneously in aspect to a host of other objects and points (as noted\u00a0here on Planet Waves<\/a> earlier this year), and the Sun’s trine to Mars was all but lost in the crowd.<\/p>\n Saturday’s trine from the Gemini Sun to the long Martian march through Libra will in some ways recall the Valentine’s Day rendition, but without being lost in a stampede of other aspects.<\/p>\n Hence, a second chance of sorts, implicitly a chance to find yourself in the crowd, will be yours to begin the weekend.<\/p>\n The Sun is as personal as any object in astrology. The actual Sun is big, bright, and you have a relationship with it every day. The symbolic Sun of astrology is likewise as personal as your own consciousness. Problem is, it’s easy to take both the Sun and your consciousness for granted, essentially losing yourself in the bargain.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mars is also a very personal planet, manifesting as all forms of energy in your life, which is also easy to take for granted. Since Dec. 7 of last year, Mars has been expressing that energy from Libra because a long retrograde has kept it confined to the cardinal sign distinguished by elemental air.<\/p>\n Yet, Mars is not as confined as it would be in a fire, earth or water sign. Elemental air, much like actual air, circulates far and wide while at the same time gently penetrating into the most personal of spaces.<\/p>\n Actual air is at once your most immediate personal necessity, and the most rapid means of long-distance travel — a characteristic which likewise translates to the metaphorical air element of astrology.\u00a0<\/p>\n That’s how trine aspects connecting the air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) function: to show you something about how one connects with all while also remaining separate. The trick is to discern and balance both sides of being, without getting lost in either.<\/p>\n All are one under the Sun. Yet, among all those under the Sun at any given time, some are hot, others cold. Some are weak, others strong. Some are laughing, others crying; and so on. The big picture and your place in it are difficult to grasp at the same time. It’s easier to take both the Sun and your circumstance for granted and muddle through.\u00a0<\/p>\n All are also one in the life energy through which Mars manifests. Yet, at any moment, some are consumed by that energy while others partake of it. Being immersed in life often means taking energy for granted as well, not knowing what side of the equation you are on until the energy either runs out or runs you down.\u00a0<\/p>\n Given an all-too-human predilection for projecting what’s inside onto another, it’s easy to assume others experience life as you do until the assumption becomes a mistake. On the other hand, knowing the private nature of awareness, it’s tempting to forget how consciousness is the most common ground of all until that ground crumbles away. Either way, you end up feeling lost.<\/p>\n When you add the constant demands on your attention through what advertisers now arrogantly call “disruption,” it’s easy to get as lost in the crowd of mass manipulations as the first solar trine to Mars this year was lost among many other aspects.<\/p>\n Therefore, seek the sort of balance trine aspects imply: connection and separation working to support rather than exclude the other. Consider seeking some separation while at the same time not getting getting completely out of touch this weekend.<\/p>\n Allow both your consciousness and energy to flow free from manufactured distraction and above the fray without utter withdrawal from life. Consider pulling yourself away from the allure of being ‘where it’s at’, and allow yourself to rediscover where you are.<\/p>\n Even if you manage to get only a taste of how to balance connection and separation this weekend, you will have made the most of the astrology, and with that achievement you will have at least begun to find yourself in the crowd. Funny how it works that way, but it will. You could do a whole lot worse. Many will.
