We are a society of people who live in our heads. There are a few people left who are in touch with their bodies (dancers, musicians, some craftspeople and artists, a few fortunate others) though for the most part Western society exits in a fantasy bubble. We saw an image of that in yesterday’s New Moon — Moon and Sun in Gemini square Neptune in Pisces. That is the perfect illustration of what you might call the delusion of glamour — of believing that image is real, that we can live up to advertisements and that we can relate intimately to one another by text message. The result is profound alienation that nobody wants to admit to because it’s just not cool. The discussion that has erupted following the Isla Vista incident actually touched on some of these points. In the past few hours, Mercury and Venus have changed signs. Mercury has ingressed Cancer (it was in Gemini) and Venus has ingressed Taurus (it was in Aries). Mercury’s change of signs represents a shift of energy from mental and theoretical (Gemini) to emotional and instinctual (Cancer). Note that Mercury will be slowing to a station, and will spend twenty days in the first three degrees of Cancer<\/em> — a very unusual pattern that is calling for actual focus on the realm of feeling and self-care. Venus, for its part, describes more grounding in reality rather than image in its new sign, calling for an investment in physical reality. That means tactile contact with other living creatures, some actual experience of the natural world, eating real food and experiencing one’s senses, not merely the frontal lobe.<\/p>\n
