Conjunctions, when two objects occupy the same degree of the zodiac and the same place in the sky, represent (among other things) the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.

That’s how, just as with the Taurus New Moon and solar eclipse this morning, the solar conjunction that Mercury is now moving away from also correspondeds to a new start. In fact, you could say the Moon and Mercury are on the same Taurus page of a new story right now, but Mercury is probably easier to read.

Mercury’s manifestation through thought is usually a more explicit and deliberate story to follow than that of the intuitive, furtive Moon. That’s why you should follow your conscious thoughts in days to come, and correlate them to Mercury’s aspects from Taurus as the week moves along. Doing so will make you a more aware and able co-author of whatever new story is now beginning for you.

You can begin by considering how Mercury is favorably aspecting one axis of the grand cardinal cross today and through tomorrow: the opposition between Jupiter in Cancer and retrograde Pluto in Capricorn.

Make no mistake, though exact to one degree one time only (back on April 23), the grand cardinal cross is still functional, but the emphasis is changing. Retrograde Mars in Libra is still engaged with, albeit separating from, its highly immediate and energetic opposition to Uranus in Aries, constituting the other axis of the grand cardinal cross.

For astrologers, separation from an aspect translates as a diminishing influence. Jupiter and Pluto, on the other hand, appear to move more slowly than Mars, and have not separated from their axis of opposition nearly as much as Mars and Uranus.

Hence, the immediate and energetic part of the grand cardinal cross is implicitly ending with the old lunar cycle. Part of a new story suggested by the beginning of the new lunar cycle initiated with today’s Taurus New Moon and solar eclipse is a shift toward the greater things suggested by the Jupiter-Pluto opposition.

Jupiter is associated with great things because it is the largest planet in our solar system. Pluto’s correspondence with great things is more subtle — having more to do with great power than with great size. Such as the power of an idea. Such as the power you have to make a difference in the world by writing a new story for yourself.

Mercury is serendipitously positioned in Taurus so as to imply you have a hand in writing a new story. With an earth trine to Pluto today and a sextile to Jupiter tomorrow, Mercury is essentially saying “you go girl” (or guy, as the case may be). Go on to greater things. Look past the immediate. Rise above the the energy of the moment. Think big, and for the long term, and that string of thought will serve you best.

Admittedly, re-directing your thoughts away from the last two weeks and into the future is likely easier said than done after what you’ve possibly been through. Nearly all of us have somehow been rocked and even unceremoniously rolled since the total lunar eclipse of April 15 propelled us headlong into an obligatory and accelerated advancement of some sort. Nevertheless, moving on is what’s on the cosmic menu as an alternative to a cold side dish of stuck.

The eclipses are over for another six months, and with them the lunar cycle of the previous four weeks has concluded. Don’t get stuck with what was. Great things are somehow or other implied to have begun. Things as expansively great as Jupiter. Things as powerfully great as Pluto. You will want to begin again with them.

Likewise, the emphasis and orientations of your thoughts have almost certainly somehow shifted. First, be aware of those thoughts, and then follow those them — and you will follow Mercury without error to where great things await.

Offered In Service

Len is available for astrology readings.
