This energy has the potential to be intense, calling us to consciously choose how we let it manifest — as confrontational or creative.

Aries is a busy place over the Full Moon, with the Sun conjunct Venus and Uranus in addition to being opposite the Moon. Also, Mars in Aries is square Pluto in Capricorn. That’s a lot of internal energy needing somewhere to go. It may come with the feeling of a building pressure, like a Coke bottle being shaken up. When the cap comes off, the Coke rushes out in a fizzy explosion as the pressure is released. Like that Coke bottle, we’re moving through a moment of pressure release. The key is to direct it constructively.

The Sun in alignment with Venus and Uranus is bringing a bold spark to our feelings and how we express ourselves. Isabel Hickey describes Uranus as “[representing] intuition that comes like lightning in a flash of knowingness.” She adds, “[Uranus] always changes the ‘status quo’.” With this conjunction in Aries, the sign of ‘I am’, we are called to be free to express our authentic selves regardless of what others think. Freedom does not come from permission given by others; it starts with us allowing ourselves to act in accordance with who we are.

Uranus can have an erratic quality. I suggest not making change for change’s sake, simply to be different. Rather start with something you know is authentically true for you, and make small changes in your behavior and actions based on that fact. With Mars square Pluto over the Full Moon there’s a caution to be careful of quick tempers or reacting from a place of anger.

With all this intense, potentially reactive energy, the Moon in Libra is giving us a point of grounding and balance to hold onto. It’s the place we can reach for when we need perspective or distance from all the heat, intensity and push for instantaneous action coming from the planets gathered in Aries. It’s a reminder to balance emotions and feelings with reason and forethought.

Lastly, the Libra Full Moon is square a slow-moving hypothetical point called Kronos, kind of a super-Saturn. Eric has written that Kronos “describes an inner growth process through which you recognize your authentic role in the world.” Kronos making a square to the Libra Full Moon is reminding us of all we have learned about who we are and what we want — giving us a call to action that the time has come to live what we have learned.

As the Full Moon works itself out, take steps to change the status quo slowly and methodically with thought and care for all involved in your situations and agreements. Resist the urge to apply empathy only to yourself. Remember to extend it to those around you. Ultimately, though, we are invited to check in with ourselves and make some proactive changes to the structures of our lives, drawing on what we’ve been learning regarding who we truly are at the deepest levels.

Genevieve Hathaway is an astrologer, Planet Waves contributor and photojournalist.
