If so, you\u2019re in a great position to take advantage of this weekend\u2019s Sun-Mercury-Uranus aspects, which offer a surge of inventive thought, perception and communication. Even if you\u2019re not so sure how you\u2019re doing in the honesty department, we\u2019re nearing the midpoint of this period between two eclipses. That means the timing for this inventive energy couldn\u2019t be more perfect.<\/p>\n

Sure, \u2018inventive thinking\u2019 could be a euphemism for lying, but it could also mean envisioning some very creative \u2018third option\u2019 solutions to problems that appear caught in a false dichotomy. Here\u2019s how the weekend\u2019s astrology looks like it will support this:<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Mercury conjoins the Sun in early Gemini. This is an aspect of quick wit and the ability to teach well \u2013 if you do so through speech and writing. So instead of simply thinking all your best thoughts to yourself, communicate them. Write them in your journal, if you\u2019re trying to \u2018teach\u2019 yourself. Lay things out in an email or conversation with a friend. The reason you want to loosen your tongue is so that you don\u2019t keep yourself ping-ponging within your own psyche. Give your brain an outlet, because Uranus is joining the picture \u2013 and The Great Awakener comes with a jolt of energy.<\/p>\n

Mercury makes a sextile to Uranus in Aries later on Sunday, so that means it\u2019s basically happening at the same time as the Mercury-Sun conjunction. Sextiles occur between signs of complementary elements (in this case, air and fire). They are known for their flowing quality \u2013 but you have to actively use the energy.<\/p>\n

In the case of Mercury-Uranus, there are a couple of interesting things to keep in mind. One is that Uranus is the \u2018higher octave\u2019 of Mercury. That is, this sextile tunes our conscious mind to the \u2018Universal Mind\u2019. You can take that in a spiritual sense, but I think the most useful meaning of \u2018spiritual\u2019 is the idea that one\u2019s truth needs to be acted upon; you\u2019re only as enlightened as your engagement with the world around you is active. Mercury\u2019s sextile to Uranus gets the planet of the mind talking to the Uranus-Pluto square, the big 2012 harbinger of evolution and revolution. The message is that as your perception and intuition quicken, so must your application of what you learn. If you\u2019re taking Len\u2019s advice from yesterday<\/a> to observe your thinking and stay present, all this activity in mutable Gemini should help with the necessary flexibility.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Gemini Sun also makes a sextile to Uranus. The representative of self and life force in exchange with the cosmic light socket might sound like a lot to handle, but this aspect can have a strong impulse toward healing. Sun-Uranus themes include originality, independence, ingenuity and intuition. Again, however, the application of all this juice is up to you. Sextiles don\u2019t walk around saving the world \u2013 or you \u2013 by themselves. Remember, also, this gets the Sun talking to the Uranus-Pluto square. What part of your changing environment do you want to apply your powers of ingenuity to?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s really ideal timing, because Monday also brings us the first quarter Moon. This is the halfway point between last weekend\u2019s annular solar eclipse and the lunar eclipse in Sagittarius on June 4 \u2013 the day before Venus transits the Sun. We\u2019ve been telling you for months these weeks would be highly charged with potential and move quickly. Are you beginning to feel it?<\/p>\n

Take a little time this weekend to assess what may have surfaced for release or integration, or was initiated, last weekend. Where do you want to take it? If you\u2019ve been consciously engaging in a dialogue between two halves of yourself since Sunday\u2019s eclipse, take it deeper \u2013 try connecting it to the wider world. Lean on Mercury a little and be bold enough to say insights out loud or put them down in writing.
