This is called being void of course. A Moon VOC can come with a sense of listlessness and you may not feel sure about what to do next. It’s not a great time to make commitments, but the good news is that fights started in this situation are not likely to matter. That said, the Moon’s next move is to ride the cardinal cross when it enters Aries at 12:25 pm EDT. This will call for some awareness.

The first aspect the Moon makes is a conjunction to Ceres, which is hanging out in the very first degree of Aries. You’re likely familiar with the myth of this little planet’s namesake: a goddess and mother who negotiated with Pluto, lord of the underworld, to be able to bring her abducted daughter back above ground for half the year. This is the myth that gives us seasons and the agricultural calendar. Conjunct the Moon on the Aries Point, it may also give us a sense of grief or sadness that might express as anger. Don’t forget that anything in the early cardinal signs is also making an aspect to Pluto in Capricorn — so the potential provocation is automatically part of the story. (In fact, Len Wallick recently noticed and described how the whole cast of characters in the Ceres/Persephone myth is in play right now, astrologically.)

If you do feel some grief or anger, it may be pretty deep and intense. And given that we are talking about the goddess of the harvest, nourishment and food in general, eating the problem away is not a real option. If you’re feeling angry or sad, watch out for any unconscious eating — and be particularly careful around the salty-sweet combo Eric mentioned in The Chiron Files yesterday. That stuff will just leave you wanting more and feeling worse (and if you’re an Aries, Eric advises avoiding jalepenos — no need for more fire). Feeling worse is the last thing anyone wants anyway, but it could be especially inadvisable given that Uranus is also part of the Moon-Ceres conjunction.

This is where that awareness I mentioned is especially important. Uranus could equal a sudden release of this grief, and could push it across the line into full-blown anger or a very impetuous expression. There is an element of unpredictability here, so the message is to be cool if you can. This is not the same as denial, but rather more like recognizing how you’re feeling fully enough that you don’t find yourself lashing out blindly. At the very least, try to act cool if you know your anger does not belong in the direction of your companions — and then channel it a bit more productively when you’re at a safe distance. ‘Timeouts’ aren’t just for toddlers, and they are not for punishment, either. They are a way to remove someone (whether a child or yourself) from an upsetting or over-stimulating situation long enough to calm down and think things through. In the case of very old or buried anger, this kind of process is essential if you want to follow the feeling to the source and work it out.

I seem to be saying “don’t” a lot in this post, so here’s a “do.” Should you find yourself irresistibly drawn by the smells coming from the clam shack by the beach as I was yesterday after work, do listen when your body gives you a clear “that’s plenty!” message after only the fourth fried onion ring.
