Today is Wednesday, July 13, 2011.<\/strong><\/a> The Moon enters Capricorn at 10:14 am EDT, where it will be full overnight Thursday to Friday. A set of minor planets will square that Full Moon to the degree. And at the heart of that set of aspects is a slow-moving, long-standing square between Varuna and Eris. Planet Waves covered this square back in April<\/a> when the quarter Moon brought it to light. <\/p>\n

Now the Full Moon is shining an even stronger spotlight on this arrangement, which has been working the whole time in the background. One way to figure out what the Varuna-Eris square means is to look around to see what in our world, and our lives, has increased in luminosity — whether you choose to define that as glare or glow. <\/p>\n

In one realm, the US debt ceiling issue and the unfolding Murdoch\/NoTW scandal are clearly the things blasting into focus right now; only you can say for sure what is being brought to light in your personal life. But we can all be sure of one thing: it’s getting our attention for a reason. Chances are both realms, looked at from the right perspective, have something to do with a fracturing and wholeness; with presenting a unified face; or to borrow from yesterday’s post at Len’s suggestion: casting off layers for some skinny-dipping by the soul\/self.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, as we feel our way into this unfolding landscape, the Moon in Capricorn is far from her home sign of Cancer. In Capricorn, she is in the sign of the beginning of winter, a time when traditionally you have to be careful to structure and ration your food supply in order to make it to spring. So the Moon in Capricorn can make us feel a little fussy or even somewhat neurotic around issues of safety and nurturing and perhaps trigger themes related to your past, your heritage, your habit patterns, and your comfort zones. Conversely, if these are not a problem for you now, this Capricorn Moon could lend some serious, stable and self-starting energy to kick off a long-term project or the next phase of one. Either way, this will involve some choices.<\/p>\n

The choices are outlined by the major aspect of today which is a square between Venus in Cancer and Saturn in Libra. Cancer is the Moon\u2019s rulership, domicile or home sign and Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn, where we find the Moon now. So this square is reinforcing the archetypal themes of preparation for scarcity vs feeling safe and nurtured enough to seek growth, but through another self-starting cardinal sign, Libra. This means that the choices you need to make are likely coming at you through your relationships, particularly a one-on-one relationship where the power balance is relatively equal. <\/p>\n

Relative is the keyword here, because with all this self-starting energy abounding it is possible that the partner who feels more powerful at the moment will want to make ‘command decisions’ and kind of blindly or automatically assume or expect the other to follow. If this scenario unfolds it will definitely be a moment of choice. Being reactive or demanding is not going to help. The good news is that the Capricorn Moon ruled by Saturn (or Kronos, aka \u201cfather time\u201d) reminds us that we do indeed have plenty of time. Take the time to slow down and have a discussion. That starts by simply stating your need to have one. In fact stating the need for discussion in the first place is a great way to avoid the above scenario. <\/p>\n

The things that need to be decided via this discussion\/negotiation will be variations on three themes: who is in charge right now, are we advancing or fortifying our position, and how do we balance these polarities by introducing win\/win choices to foster a consensus which allows, acknowledges and mitigates any seemingly ‘minor’ or ‘minority’ concerns. As you enter any authentic discussion, come forward as your true, unified, unmasked self. It will both put you on solid ground and keep the light shining on what truly needs to be healed.<\/p>\n
