A few weeks ago, he ordered a mural honoring the history of laborers in Maine removed form the capitol building in Augusta. Along with outrage form citizens, the federal government has even piped up to say that since federal funds paid for the mural, Maine now owes the feds $60,000 &#8212; all because our dear governor thought the mural was &#8216;unfriendly&#8217; toward businesses. <\/p>\n<p>In a beautiful move on April 2, a creative group identifying themselves only as &#8220;BrokeFix&#8221; decided to &#8216;photo-bomb&#8217; the capitol building in a late-night creative act of non-destructive graffiti as a means of &#8216;restoring&#8217; the mural. More recently, they took their guerrilla art <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5KDNwRyP0gc&#038;feature=youtu.be\"><strong>to the buildings of Portland, Maine<\/strong><\/a> (wish I&#8217;d known they were coming!), including in this version projections of quotes from the online feedback they&#8217;ve received. <\/p>\n<p>The Huffington Post ran an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2011\/04\/11\/maine-labor-mural-brokefix-photo-bombing_n_847091.html\">exclusive interview<\/a> with the group earlier today, and they even got a mention by Rachel Maddow, who said, &#8220;I love this thing that you guys did, this nondestructive, nonviolent, art confrontation at the state capitol.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>So do I.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;The weight of futility that our society places upon the individual is a meaningless illusion that disappears as soon as you realize that your own two hands can lift it away.
