There is a lot of information floating around about taking iodine pills and kelp; this researcher states that while iodine pills are not a bad thing,  <em>the<\/em> way to avoid radioactive iodine it is to stop drinking milk. Apparently the way humans take up radioactive iodine from the environment is that after it has fallen from the ground, it gets eaten by cows with their grass, and is passed on into the animals&#8217; milk.
