<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\nThis particular New Moon is conjunct one of those odd, slow-moving minor planets that’s out a little past Pluto. It’s one we don’t mention often here, called Borasisi, which is making a long, slow trek through Pisces. Like Pisces itself, Borasisi addresses themes of belief, and how what we believe has a tendency to become true. The New Moon is also square a galactic point called the Great Attractor, which tends to polarize the energy of situations, and can stir up a good bit of controversy.<\/p>\n
You may find yourself repelling certain people, drawing others toward you and in general wondering why people are having such strong reactions to you. Such is the vibration of the Great Attractor. One thing I suggest is that while people are reacting to you and while you’re reacting to them, notice the stories you’re making up and see what they tell you — about yourself.<\/p>\n
In astrology, a New Moon symbolizes a new beginning, and while we’re not there yet, we are approaching that point. But completion is a good thing to do before beginning, so I suggest you work in that order.<\/p>\n
In western astrology, Pisces is the 12th solar house, the last of the cycle. Pisces is like the ocean into which the experience of the previous eleven solar houses dissolves. Like the deep sea, it is an abyss into which the vast and mysterious waters have collected, both concentrating and diluting their essence. It relates to things too large to comprehend, but which we’re looking at all the time, taking for granted. There is paradox, bliss, mystery and awe combining into a spiritual component that is also present as something palpable. The New Moon in Pisces is thus like a very old soul born into a new body.<\/p>\n
This is a personal and emotional New Moon, a beginning informed by all that has gone before, and that makes it both timely and appropriate that the luminaries should be sharing their conjunction with Borasisi and its binary companion, Pabu. When an event involving the Sun or Moon is conjunct a planet, that planet tends to reveal itself. So while we may have ideas about a new planet, it’s a good idea to observe both events and yourself to see what happens.<\/p>\n

The names Borasisi and Pabu come from Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Cat’s Cradle<\/em>. It may seem a little odd to name slow-moving planets (rather than asteroids) after a fiction novel, but Vonnegut was no ordinary writer. There is also a name depletion problem — there are starting to be more planets than there are names for them.<\/p>\n Borasisi and Pabu are the deities of creation for the fictional religion Boknonoism. In the holy text of the Books of Bokonon<\/em>, the identity of these two correspond to the Sun and Moon. Their mythical relationship is used to describe the origins of our solar system. The devotees of Bokonoism created their own destiny by what they believed in, and through the crisis that notion encountered as the plot developed. So with this event we can look for the ways in which we do tend to create what we believe and then confront the reality of what we’ve created.<\/p>\n You could say that this is about the whole process of manifestation as it proceeds from belief to encounter with the results of that idea; this is another way of looking at karma. This word, tossed around a lot these days, represents the seemingly complex process of cause and effect.<\/p>\n We last discussed Borasisi-Pabu in some depth back on Nov. 2, 2010.<\/a> That was the date of the mid-term elections in the United States which heralded significant gains by a Republican Tea Party. On that day, the Scorpio Sun formed a water-element trine with Borasisi. This is a pretty good example of how belief creates ‘reality’. A lot of people voted for one thing that they supposedly believed, whether it was true or not. Then they got a manifestation of that action.<\/p>\n Like the devotees of Bokonoism, the voters in the midterm elections created a destiny by what they believed in, regardless whether or not it was true. The midterm elections shuffled the balance of political power to the present-day consequences of that choice. People who voted for ‘fiscal reform’ are getting a big discussion about banning women’s health services, gutting the power of unions and other things that have nothing to do with balancing a budget. In a few of those awakening, this will cause a little conflict. In others, being fed the raw meat of hatred is enough to keep them distracted.<\/p>\n And who knows, there might even be an inner crisis or awakening. The Pisces New Moon is square the Great Attractor, located about 90 degrees away in Sagittarius. This angular relationship implies internal tension (with more focus on belief — Sagittarius), which may suggest conflicting belief systems (such as ‘have fun’ versus ‘be pure’). You may feel provoked to action in some way, not knowing why. The question is, what beliefs are leading you to make any decision you’re making? How do you resolve conflicts in your belief systems? How do you determine what is true for you?<\/p>\n Among the central delusions of the world is that what we believe does not matter; what we choose does not matter; that the results we get in life have no particular cause — things ‘just happen’. Well, it may seem that way sometimes, but there are a lot of steps along the way to getting anywhere. Here is the thing with Pisces. Very old beliefs are involved with this sign. They are so old we may not know we have them, or where we got them. But this New Moon is also under the influence of Chiron, newly in Pisces.
