Here is a little excerpt from this morning&#8217;s <em>New York Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div id=\"articleInline\" class=\"inlineLeft\">\n<div id=\"inlineBox\"><!--Article Comments Include--><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In the Roosevelt Room after the session, the Treasury secretary, Henry M. Paulson Jr., literally bent down on one knee as he pleaded with Ms. Pelosi not to \u0432\u0402\u045ablow it up\u0432\u0402\u045c by withdrawing her party\u0432\u0402\u2122s support for the package over what Ms. Pelosi derided as a Republican betrayal.<\/p>\n<p><script type=\"text\/JavaScript\"><!--\nif (acm.rc) acm.rc.write();\n\/\/ --><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u0432\u0402\u045aI didn\u0432\u0402\u2122t know you were Catholic,\u0432\u0402\u045c Ms. Pelosi said, a wry reference to Mr. Paulson\u0432\u0402\u2122s kneeling, according to someone who observed the exchange. She went on: \u0432\u0402\u045aIt\u0432\u0402\u2122s not me blowing this up, it\u0432\u0402\u2122s the Republicans.\u0432\u0402\u045c<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Paulson sighed. \u0432\u0402\u045aI know. I know.\u0432\u0402\u045c<\/p>\n<p>It was the very outcome the White House had said it intended to avoid, with partisan presidential politics appearing to trample what had been exceedingly delicate Congressional negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Christopher J.
