Photo by Beth Bagner.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There are many cycles of eclipses that have been discovered; the most famous is the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saros_cycle\"><strong>saros cycle<\/strong><\/a>, which tracks patterns of eclipses through the centuries and can link current events with those hundreds of years ago. A similar concept is the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Metonic_cycle\">metonic series<\/a><\/strong>, which repeats eclipses every 19 years (6939.69 days), lasting about 5 cycles. Eclipses occur in nearly the same calendar date. In addition the octon subseries repeats 1\/5 of that or every 3.8 years (1387.94 days). This series has 21 eclipse events between July 11, 1953 and July 11, 2029. Some astrologers follow these patterns closely; I have in the past, but I&#8217;m not tracking it for the current set of eclipses, till this post.
