<\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\nAs the Sun makes its way across this sign for the next four weeks, it will align first with the Great Attractor at 14+ degrees and then with the Galactic Core at 27+ degrees. This to me is the origin of the feeling that time is moving especially fast this time of year: it comes under the influence of some incredible gravitational forces, and we feel it as acceleration.<\/p>\n
This is enhanced psychologically by the approach of the holidays and the shortest days of the year; the feeling that “time is running out.”<\/p>\n
The Sun reaches solstice declination on Dec. 20 and holds that position on the horizon for five days before beginning its northward journey. December is a wonderfully complex month astrologically,\u00a0 — but we’re not there yet; details soon (for subscribers, with Tuesday’s December monthly horoscope edition).<\/p>\n
There will be an exact conjunction of Mercury and Pholus today, which looks like energy opening up a conversation, or many conversations, that will not end until it they are resolved. Pholus releases<\/em>; it inspires one to follow curiosity<\/em>; it talks about a small cause and a big effect<\/em>. If we apply this to Mercury, we get the feeling of an idea with plenty of extra influence — one we did not realize could move energy the way that it does: through thought or concept. In Sagittarius, it has the ability to reach the world, or to reach to us from a global condition; in any event it speaks of a planetary thought process.<\/p>\n

Pholus is the second centaur planet. This is history worth knowing: it was discovered 15 years after Chiron (the first Centaur) in 1992, and led astronomers to define that particular class of minor planets. The same year, the first planet beyond Pluto (orbiting our Sun) was discovered — that was 1992 QB1. It defined or verified the existence of the Kuiper Belt, a vast field of planets in the region of Pluto and way beyond. So when you think of Pholus, think of that kind of expansion; of a concept becoming reality; of an idea taking hold unexpectedly. And think of 1992.<\/p>\n
Today the Centaur conjunction in Aquarius also comes into highlight as the Moon makes conjunctions to Nessus, Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune (in that order). The Nessus conjunction is past as of early Monday morning and the\u00a0 Moon is heading for a conjunction to Jupiter. If you are doing any kind of a group activity, now is the time to facilitate and raise awareness around that energy.<\/p>\n
Yesterday we had a long, interesting conversation about the JFK assassination chart, coincidentally as that chart had its solar return and lunar return simultaneously; today the Moon will emphasize the fact that Jupiter, Chirion and Neptune are in that chart’s ascendant. But JFK chart aside, the Moon is blazing through the Aquarius stellium and reminding us what time it really is.<\/p>\n
That would be time for progress. Those of us who are both making progress individually and participating culturally need to make peace with the fact that not everyone is going to get on board. Not only that, some people are making a career out of blocking progress; we cannot let this bother us. I recognize it’s groovy to have a notion of an egalitarian society where everyone is equal and comes along, but individual karma still exists. It is a different thing than the karma of groups, which go through initiation processes at their own rate; and individuals participate, if they are ready and if they want to.<\/p>\n
Here is a clue: it does not take a lot of individuals participating to move group karma. Jesus talked about a group of two or more being aware of its ability to move energy in a way different than one person can. Yet readiness and willingness (which are often confused with one another) are both necessary. For those open to growth and change, today’s aspects provide an opportunity.<\/p>\n
