We passed the Sagittarius Full Moon yesterday, close to the Great Attractor, in that mythic territory that I’ll refer to as the 2012 zone — mid Sagg through early Capricorn. The Moon is there now and will be for another day or so. As of Monday morning the Moon was conjunct the Galactic Core in late Sagittarius. As of a bit later it will make a conjunction to Pluto in early Capricorn: not sentimental. Rather, the craving to open up a secret compartment of thought and emotion.<\/p>\n

One of the properties of the sky lately has been that after the Sun leaves a sign, some really interesting astrology happens there, after the Sun has left.<\/p>\n

The latest example of this is now that the Sun is in Gemini, Venus and Mars are in Taurus, heading for a conjunction. The buildup is an event of its own; the conjunction looks a lot like consummation of ideas, relationships, and experience. This will be exact the day of the Cancer solstice (beginning of summer in the north and winter in the south), at the exact midpoint of Taurus (the Beltane point). The Sun for its part will be in an exact conjunction to Vesta that day.<\/p>\n

Descriptions of what this astrology signifies to me feel more apropos for an airing on Book of Blue<\/a><\/strong>, as the sexual, ritual and healing components are depicted vividly and Gemini-styled, craving expression in words and experience (Gemini is nothing, if not curious). We get a kind of ultimate sexual image (Venus and Mars on the Beltane point) and the ultimate image of the celibate priestess (Sun conjunct Vesta in Cancer). There is a luxurious tension here. Look for pleasure opportunities, with that deep relational component, in strange, unusual or unexpected ways and places. Some might arrive vicariously, or with people you would never expect would be available; and with a spiritual dimension that has seemed, until now, out of reach. This is I think something we are all reaching for, a cosmic dimension to eroticism; the realm of the psycherotic.<\/p>\n

Venus and Mars, for their part, are now working toward that conjunction, with both points in Taurus. With Venus in Aries for so long, the change in signs feels refreshing, cooling off Venus long enough for her to heat up again in hot pursuit of Mars. The conjunction will be close clear through making its one exact contact, so there is a feeling of anticipation in the air, culminating on the 21st and the days that surround it.<\/p>\n

Sun plus Vesta in Cancer illustrates holding space for others as a gesture of nourishing them sexually. I mean this literally: be supportive of the pleasure and relationships of others. Encourage them to get what they want, need or crave. Create spaces, create ritual experiences, and allow some of your own desires to manifest by taking conscious action. The world needs much more of it than it gets. Remember that the first property of Vesta is holding space, space that is defined by a fire or hearth at the core. It’s time to tend that fire continuously.<\/p>\n

Other upcoming Venus and Mars conjunction are: Aug. 20, 2010 in Libra with both planets direct. Then there is Oct 3, 2010 in Scorpio involved with a Venus retrograde. Then there is May 23, 2011, again in Taurus, conjunct Mercury.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
