Usually I only look at charts for NASA’s disasters, of which there have been many, and the charts are always interesting. Most are clustered around this time of year, and around the time of Glenn’s first flight into space. This is the chart for a kind of triumph, though it was dominantly political even more than it was technological. In the amazing book The Right Stuff, Tom Wolfe describes these early flights by the Russians and Americans as single combat in the Cold War.

We see this in the 10th house — the house of government and reputation, where there are (in this version of the chart) seven planets or points in Aquarius. I have been referencing that we have seen nothing like the current Aquarius sky since 1962 — and this is one historic event that came with the Aquarius alignment of that era. That Aquarius 10th house (with Capricorn on the cusp, so it gives the house even more political/corporate flavor) speaks to the science, the popularity of the mission and the ingenuity that it took to make this happen. Yet really it was a gesture of America’s determination to win the cold war with Russia.

This was an odd kind of war, however, with Venus, the Sun and Chiron in Pisces; a lot better war than the Vietnam kind, which had yet to get underway at full strength. It was bringwing and being instigated quietly; it would finaly flare up with the Tonkin Gulf Non-Incident of 1964.

Would someone please post the chart for Glenn’s flight?

Eric here…seeing this image on the front page, I thought I would cast this chart to see what turned up.
