In Burkina Faso, deep in the fabric section of the market in Ouagadougou’s 8th district. Fabric is bought by pagne (pronounced pan-ye), a large rectangle roughly 1 meter by 2 meters. Women usually buy 3 pagnes at once, one to make a long skirt, one for a top and the third is either used for the head, a wrap, or to place underneath them when they sit. Men buy just one to have a shirt made. The choices of motif are vast, colorful and dizzying. Photo by Dani Voirin. Prior cover: A rainbow brightens.
