A neighborhood friend, the local tailor. Around the corner, his shop was a place to pause, listen to a piece of opera, talk about art, artists, dreams and passion. He practiced his English, and I my French. Between his four walls was an oasis from which he pushed me out into the world, to live my dreams as he had not. Photo by Danielle Voirin. Coming Tomorrow in the April Inner Space Horoscope

Aries (March 20-April 19) -- You must embody the principle of strategy. That means
you need to think clearly, and work with a plan; and with any good plan, it needs to be
reviewed on a continuous basis. This kind of clarity may be difficult when you actually seem to be embodying the principle of emotional impulse. Though you may have been struggling with this for weeks, you're finally in a composed enough state where your mind can take
over the process of guiding your life. What is most likely to distract your attention are concerns over your security, which you may translate into safety. Remember, this is
about the feeling -- not the real thing, but the feeling means a lot.

MLK and the imperfect social contract in America | By Judith Gayle
News Editor Judith Gayle writes about the forty year anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination and the state of racism in America today: "There weren't many little kids in the neighborhood, but every day along came a swarm of little black kids, four of them from one family. They were chatty and cheerful and my son was in the trike stage — tree-climbing and muscle flexing was his thing. He liked them, they liked him — the little girls would fuss over the baby, getting her to smile. All was well. Except it wasn't. I apparently hadn't gotten the memo that one didn’t speak to or encourage these children."
