Dear Friend and Reader: WHEN REALLY intense news happens, the first thing we want is some perspective. You turn on the TV and they keep saying the same thing over and over. Usually when you think about it for a second, it adds up to nothing. The major networks don't give us much history, either -- they have a five minute memory. The problem with the news is that it's not in any context, and you never find out how it actually affects you. It's like a show; or worse, an effect without a cause. You may be wondering what happens in our subscriber edition, called Planet Waves Astrology News. It's like getting a weekly news magazine written directly for you, emailed to you. "Nearly any child with access to a television has seen this video, and has had imprinted on their minds (probably a number of times) an image of cruelty more befitting the Middle Ages than the 21st century. But alas, this is just what we do, in some places, in the 21st century. It also gave the false impression that this is what happens to tyrants and dictators, when in fact, most of them do quite well for themselves." The worst news of the week is that Greenland is melting very fast, at record speed in fact. The best news of the week was that New Jersey has banned its death penalty -- the first state to do so in the 'new era' of the capital punishment that began in 1976. I'll get to both in a moment." There are many weeks when we just look inward, at astrology and how we relate to it. You rarely see such discussions, only astrological clichés. One such article, from July 20, was called Sexual Healing and the Fiery Edge of Virgo. "Where two signs meet is rich territory....Where Leo adjoins Virgo, the divine ray of passion and that of integrity enmesh with one another. We often think of Leo as the sign of sex, art and creativity, and Virgo as that of work, focus, clear thinking and healing." You will learn more astrology reading Planet Waves than you will any astrology book. You will learn more about the news than reading a news site. That's because I speak to you like you're an intelligent adult, not an idiot. That's because we cover the astrology happening now, when you can feel it happening.
