 May 30 was for many years the traditional day that Memorial Day was honored in the United States. Since congress moved it to the last Monday in May in the late 1960s, it has gone from being a solemn day of honoring our nation's war dead to a big holiday weekend. Today we have one last photo respecting our nation's fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines, courtesy of the Vietnam War Memorial site. This memorial in Washington DC bears the names of more than 54,000 people who died during what is acknowledged to be one of the greatest mistakes in United States history.
