The Weekend Tarot Reading — Sunday, February 5, 2012
Editor’s Note: If you want to experiment with tarot cards and don’t have any, we provide a free tarot spread generator using the Celtic Wings spread, which is based on the traditional Celtic Cross spread. This article explains how to use the spread. You can visit Sarah’s website here. –efc

While archetypes exist eternally, they manifest in reality as symbols. Paradoxically, the symbol is a bridge. Although anchored in daily experience, the symbol points to an archetypal eternity, enabling our limited understanding to touch a transcendent unknowable reality. – Dr Rachel Hillel, The Redemption of the Feminine Erotic Soul
Today’s reading feels like a meeting point between us mortals and the immortals — the archetypes that we embody that elevate us above our limited viewpoint and situate us on a plane that we can perhaps sense but not fully understand. In fact, this reading is going to be a challenging one to convey, simply because we are dealing with that point of impingement between the physical and the liminal, where words can only go so far, but where we are being asked to feel into ourselves and our deeper senses and intuition to reach for a place where we can hold the tension of our experience.
Let me see if I can explain more clearly.
On the outside of the reading, we have two major arcana cards: The High Priestess and The Hermit. Major arcana cards are associated with inner development and growth — our souls first, rather than our physical bodies, which then live out the soul’s experience in the everyday world. These major arcana archetypes point to areas that are asking for our attention, calling to us through these two figures and what they might represent for us.

That Special Day in the USA
And now for a friendly challenge — can you explain the game of football in a comment below? That is, explain it so that someone who has never played or followed a game can understand what the idea of the game is. Extra points for explaining what the different positions do. Also — if you have a photo you’ve taken that has some imagery of the New England Patriots and you’d like to see it posted, please send it to dreams@planetwaves.net.

Astrology Today: Oracle for Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012
Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus monthly for May 9, 2005.
Since you have no easy or practical way to tell what is real and what is a waking dream you may as well treat all your experiences desires and visions as being potentially valid. The same could be said of your fears though for a fear to be valid it does not need to be based on something that may happen. But you may well need to reach into yourself and connect with any part of you that has been hurt by repeated doubt loss or the false message that to have anything in life you must sacrifice who you are. In truth you can only be yourself.
Note, The Oracle is a random selection from the Eric Francis horoscope archives. Each day we publish one entry from among the 10,000 in our database. It’s a little slice of horoscope history — but chosen by our Oracle program, which always speaks to the present moment. New horoscopes are published each Friday plus twice a month in Planet Waves subscriber edition and Planet Waves Light. And for your 2012 annual reading, you’ll find Revolution. Revelation. Reality Check.

Tough Love and Common Sense
By Judith Gayle | Political Waves
It happens every time. Give ‘em an inch, they’ll take a mile. Radical conservatives are doing what they’re famous for: pushing their own personal agenda up the arse of everyone else in the name of “American values” and their conviction that all people must join them in obedience to their religious convictions or there will be hell to pay. I know what you’re thinking: OMG, she’s going to bitch about the Republicans again. Yes. Yes, I am. And it’s not because I’m warring with my neighbor or judging some cross-section of humanity or furthering an us/them agenda; it’s because radical Republicans — bless their bony heads — have become the impediment against which we must all push if we are to stop our downward spiral, restore our civil liberties and knit up the nation’s wounds.
Admittedly, I have a bias. I was raised in a socially liberal, politically conservative household. That gave me a foot in both worlds. If I turned out politically and socially liberal, it’s because I found conservatism to be incestuous, mean-spirited and sclerotic. In my opinion, it’s downright un-American! Read history and you can only call the marriage of religion and government odd bedfellows, merging their authority in an uneasy arrangement of divided control over the citizenry, with absolute obedience to each required upon pain of death.
This nation purposely separated religious from governmental power for the very reason that liberty could not survive their combined influence, but as a lower vibrational philosophy, it’s hard to snuff out. Religion has never given up trying to pull us back into servitude. Listen, in your heart of hearts you know Pope Ratz would love to have that power again, impressing us willful little peons who oppose his message of straight, unprotected but absolutely married sex with his own version of the wrath of Gawd. It was as recently as 1908 that the Vatican’s Congregation of the Inquisition was renamed the Holy Office, which in the 1960s became the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Perhaps you recognize it as the Vatican office that Cardinal Josef Ratzinger ran before he became Pope Benedict XVI? See? Incestuous, mean-spirited and sclerotic, not to mention a tad sadistic.

Astrology Today: Oracle for Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012
Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus weekly for June 6, 2002.
Certain key decisions have yet to be made and you seem to reluctant to make them in the context of how fortunate your life is. We might all wonder, what if the good fortune doesn’t last? What about all the people who are struggling? Can I really allow myself to feel good even if they are facing some of their greatest challenges? Ah but do you have a choice? You now stand at one of the true crossroads of your inner journey. Within you two competing values systems are struggling for supremacy. You may be waiting to see which one wins the battle but really the choice is all yours, and bottom line it’s the only choice you’ll ever make.

At Last: Neptune enters Pisces
Today is Friday, Feb. 3, 2012. Neptune enters Pisces today at 2:03 pm EST. After fourteen years in what may be the least comfortable sign it could travel through (Aquarius), Neptune is finally coming home for a long spell. The sky is strong and favorable with Pisces energy, rolling out a welcome mat for this transition.
For one thing, Jupiter and Chiron are still in a sextile from Taurus to Pisces, respectively – and each has a strong association with the other’s current placement. Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces; Chiron was discovered while it was in Taurus – right in the degree Jupiter now occupies. It adds up to a lot of strong Pisces energy all at once, but the sextile makes it accessible, and Jupiter in earthy Taurus provides some real grounding for it. Chiron provides a complimentary grounding in the form of focus and a consciously applied visioning power.
The configuration, with Neptune blending into the edges of the aspect, translates to applied creativity for a purpose. Remember: unlike some aspects that can feel like a kick in the ass and others that seem to slide right by, a sextile is an energy you can actually use. And just in case you needed an extra boost in that, Uranus is right at the midpoint between Jupiter and Chiron, urging you to reinvent yourself.

Astrology Today: Oracle for Friday, Feb. 3, 2012
Today’s Oracle takes us to the Gemini weekly for Oct. 22, 1999.
Somewhere back in your karmic files is a detail about how you tend to attract sexually repressed people, and it then becomes your job to get them, well, over the hump. And there are worse jobs you can have in this world. Lately, though, even the most dazed, confused and shutdown people in your vicinity have been awakening, or at least in my opinion they should be, and you’re in a perfect position to provide an outlet for their newly discovered, if momentary, lapse of erotic denial. Cut these folks some slack. Ask them what they need, and what they want. They’re complicated beings. Not that you are so simple, but at least you can see in black and white instead of a thousand shades of gray.
