Astrology Today: Oracle for Friday, Jan. 25, 2013

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus weekly for Nov. 14, 2003

Astrology Blog: The Oracle, Weekly Horoscopes, Monthly Horoscopes.

So, now you know. Your doubts have been erased, along with a lot of false memories, misperceptions and values that had no relationship to who you were, what you wanted or what you knew to be true. How does the world look now that you’re seeing it on your own terms? Remember well; pay attention. The next step is to live in the world on your own terms, which has everything to do with seeing yourself as an independent person, not someone’s spouse, child, student, prisoner or subject. Most people never get there; it’s way too much responsibility. I can assure you that there’s no challenge that won’t come with a matching reward.

Note, The Oracle is a random selection from the Eric Francis horoscope archives. Each day we publish one entry from among the 10,000 in our database. It’s a little slice of horoscope history — but chosen by our Oracle program, which always speaks to the present moment. New horoscopes are published each Friday plus twice a month in Planet Waves subscriber edition and Planet Waves Light.

Thank you for your kind words, Daniel.

It’s been a *very* long time since I was not in a relationship, though I have been in a relationship where I still felt useless, or rather, invisible. But I ended that as soon as I could.

Even when I am appreciated, I try not to hinge my feeling of usefulness to what comes back to me. It feels better, for me, anyway, to just be me, just do what I *need* to do, give what I *need* to give, knowing I am doing it as much for myself, as for the other person.

It’s like gifts. We give a gift, not expecting anything in return. If the sentiment is returned to us, that’s wonderful, but it’s not the reason we give the gift in the first place. Being yourself is like giving that gift. What comes back, or doesn’t come back, has no bearing on the need to be, and the value of being, oneself.

great to read this! And thanks Dawn, I always enjoy reading your comments. I’ve been balancing the “feeling good” of feeling useful in relationships with its shadow, feeling useless when I’m not in one. It’s a tricky line. When one is cultivating a good sense of independence, it can feel odd to suddenly feel appreciated. It’s like, wow, suddenly there’s someone who values me. What do I do with that? My ponderings anyway… ;)

Even as a child, I never thought of myself in terms of relationship. I still don’t think of myself in terms of my appended last name. (Last names come and go, if you’re a woman.) Maybe it’s an Aries thing – I am. Not, I am you or I am us. But the *usefulness* of who I am gets played out in relationship to others.
