Note, I’m moving this out of the way of the new tarot article. –efc
Dear Friend and Reader:
This week’s audio describes the simultaneous conjunctions in Libra and Scorpio. Over the next 48 hours, the Sun is conjunct Saturn in Libra. And we are in an extended conjunction of Venus and Mars next door in Scorpio.
The first conjunction describes our obsession with “proper relationships” and “doing it right.” Saturn is involved — there is a sense of duty and obligation.
The second conjunction describes what we really do, which is get it on, think about getting it on, want to get it on, need to get it on and hopefully get to get it on, despite the rules; despite what is right; despite our image and propriety and whatever else we finally end up not caring about when the time comes to not care about it.
The astrology describes how to work with this setup. Mars in Scorpio, and Venus retrograde in Scorpio, are both illustrations of authentic desire, and Venus retrograde is a deep personal inquiry. So — let’s inquire.
That’s this week’s audio — brought to you by our subscribers. Comments are welcome below.
Yours & truly,

Outrage, remorse after Rutgers student’s death
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100930/ap_on_re_us/us_student_taped_sex_24
“PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The death of a Rutgers University freshman stirred outrage and remorse on campus from classmates who wished they could have stopped the teen from jumping off a bridge last week after a recording of him having a sexual encounter with a man was broadcast online.
“Had he been in bed with a woman, this would not have happened,” said Lauren Felton, 21, of Warren. “He wouldn’t have been outed via an online broadcast and his privacy would have been respected and he might still have his life.”
Gay rights groups say Tyler Clementi’s suicide makes him a national example of a problem they are increasingly working to combat: young people who kill themselves after being tormented over their sexuality.”
I hesitate to jump in here as I really enjoy watching
… but here goes: I have this sense that so much of the drama out there/in here is about feeling whole, connecting with spirit, and Venus’ retrograde is a journey toward that union that has eluded us. The male aspect, really fun and furious, lots of poking around, is not only an amusing distraction, it’s not getting “it” done.
Feel me?
mm.
Lissam,
I think saying that you know what a woman is because you are one might be an actual case of confusing gender with sex.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luce_Irigaray
Speculum of the Other Woman – A Speculum can no longer be considered simply a medical implement, used in gynaecology. Irigary has transformed its meaning(s) with her seminal (is this *word* sexist?) approach.
“i know what is woman. sigh i am one.” This is inaccurate. What you meant was “I experience myself and I happen to be *a* woman”. You are not the archetype ‘woman’ Melissa!
You may have access to an experience of womanhood that a man cannot replicate (Eric tries harder than anyone I know of, to do precisely this) – but that is not some *essence* of woman.
Points of reference for sense-making our experience can be either internal or external, or some mixture of the two; utilising both language and experience.
Generally speaking, people find it more comfortable to have an external referent for the sense-making process (understandably). Any attempt to articulate and communicate meaningfully (even if one is prepared to live with the tensions of numinous or ineffable experience) requires shaping of a meaning-making structure that others may engage with – this is the essence of intelligibility. As soon as one attempts to articulate, one is losing something. This is inescapable.
It is therefore not valid to elevate your own experience; all the while not really defining it. But citing deficiencies and limits in the other’s ‘argument’. If you truly wish to live in line with the spirit of what the Viking Rune of Flow would suggest; in essence living without the need to understand/comprehend, then there would be a considerable amount of *letting go*in view.
Spiritual practice is a spectacular alternative to discourse, in terms of accessing the possibilities for core authenticity. However, discourse, if it is to retain meaning, has somehow to establish some agreed framework(s) for clarity of thought, focus and debate. Yes, this is inevitably limiting. But each contributor is transformed to a degree, as they reflect. This can be agonising and tentative and quite unsatisfactory and yet (as limited human entities), reflecting through time and process is part of our growth modality.
A speculum has less to do with an appeal to science and much more to do with engaging ideas and attempting to communicate with each other. Irigaray is a great place to start; although perhaps not to the tastes of everyone dipping into an astrology forum!
totally appreciated the neptune analysis, the libra propriety in relation to the scorpionic hotel california/psychological borderlands/beloved hunger for and because of deep purely and messily sexual energy.
you are confusing sex and gender, however. the burning question for you, eric, is what is woman. for you: a mysterious entity. (it’s like asking what is the sea? you can answer it, but soon it will consume your answer; recycle it back to creation.) i don’t have any interest in that question. i know what is woman. sigh i am one.
what is femininity? where does it live in you, in what you see, how do you serve it, fear it, demean it, destroy it? how is it transforming? in you? how are you transforming it?
all due respect, i am bored silly by the female venus – male mars presumptions that (seem to) dance behind your analysis [here] like shadow puppets. the truly juicy, truly swollen with subcutaneous viscous underworld hott conundrums are not sex based, they’re dancing ecstatic on the gender continuum 24/7.
what is masculinity? how does it live in me, in what i see, how do i serve it, fear it, demean it, destroy it? how is it transforming? in me? how am i transforming it?
please don’t get me wrong. eric. your quest toward understanding what baffles you (about women) has such good, playful energy running through it, and, equally, i believe that you believe in the empowerment of female sexuality for the greater good. even if it does not benefit you directly in any way.
all bets *are* off- in the erotic core. i am writing you from that galaxy far far away and right close, in stark black on a white bright screen, tapped in code from the nerve endings and hormonal elixir of my very female mars.
chang- chang changitee changg shoo bop.
p.s.
any use of the word speculum is silly. and chilly. although i do appreciate that you would be forced to refer to science in your quest
. i have a few male equivalents here in my holster and i am prepared to use them…
xo.
oh. so. true.

What happens in Scorpio stays in Scorpio. Hahaha. I love that.
yes, yes and yes!
all of that; i think i’m feeling a bit like a ping-pong ball between these two conjunctions & their messages.
and i’m glad i wasn’t drinking a beverage when i heard eric say a certain sentence, because it would have ended up all over the computer. ha! fucking hysterical image. i was going to type it here, but really don’t want to ruin the fun of surprise for everyone else.
