   personally, i appreciate the reminder that this is an international holiday. and quite frankly, i think the name “remembrance day” has much more poignant and far-reaching ripples than “veterans day” or “armistice day.” not that those are bad — and i think acknowledging our veterans is worthwhile and important.

   but somehow remembering a time when people were so affected by a war that they vowed never to let it happen again is a vital step in the process of *not* letting it happen again. and again. and again.

   we have virtual everything, and this incredible technology/media that lets everything become a giant video game without personal consequences.

   so yeah — remembrance day. as in: not the movie, not the tweet, but a moment of letting our genetic memory feel tangible. after all, i’ll bet we all had relatives involved. i wonder if i could feel mine if i tried.
