Two Talking cats on YouTube..so cute
http://youtu.be/z3U0udLH974
That’s a content Turtle.
I had my first kitten at 13 and named it Luke, aka Luke Skywalker. Luke was a she and gave an offspring, so I named it Luke Junior. I had a crush on Luke Skywalker. Just recently, I read yet another book on astrology (the authors name eludes) and lo’ and behold, Sag Rising is typically attracted to action boy Skywalker! That’s Me
Turtle Terrapin Ocelot Coppolino (the great). This is her official name (she somehow inherited Eric’s last name), i have at least a dozen nick/love/pet names for her as well.
Oh, and the songs, I write them. She pounces, and now we even have thrown some guitar in to the mix.
Storm — I Love your kitty stories, Stormi Le Rue –so great! And a very happy fathers day(her founding father) to Eric, with a lot of Love from Turtle ! xoxox
My cats also like to have their own special song. Every cat seems to inspire one to me and they’re from different musical genres. And they know their song versus someone else’s song too, everybody needs their theme song.
oh so true! i was laughing at myself last night because i have a minimum of 3 for each of mine, like for orangello (from a zappa brothers tale of lemon and orange jello, say it with a french accent); i also call her my orangello (like maya angelou), or maya for short (’cause she’s a goddess), plus she’s cheetarah (from the thunder cats, and the only one in my pack that looks like a cheetah) or ginger spice (because she takes some really nice potential kitty porn pix).
Has anyone read the TS Eliot poem The Naming of Cats? I will see if I can find it. Eliot retired from poetry in the late 1940s — this is what he did as a hobby in his later years.
The Naming of Cats
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn’t just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I’m as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there’s the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey -
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter -
But all of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that’s particular,
A name that’s peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum -
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there’s still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover -
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.
– T.S. Eliot
(from “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”)
sometime last century an ex and i rescued a kitten that looked like this girl, i named her ‘storm’ because of a quote by the Xfemme Storm about storms, like people, being a myriad of colors. then with name play, i started calling her stormi la rue. it flowed with i love you.
my first cat as an adult, looked just like that… I called her ‘Toka’.
She was awesome
sweet face
This girl amazes me daily. She is thriving and deeply loved…
