  1. wikileaks samba = brilliant. people continuously amaze me with all the different directions creativity can lead. fun!

  2. Geoffrey Robertson has amazing credentials, I am thrilled he is going to represent Assange. I see his birthdate is 30 September 1946, (Sydney, New South Wales) so here’s a noon chart for all you expert astrologers @ PW to chow down on! I’ll read from the sidelines, but I do see he’s Libran and with his Sun conjunct Neptune at the M/C I get an even greater sense that Julian has a *tremendously* powerful advocate in his corner.

    Hooray.

  3. LONDON (AFP) — High-profile human rights lawyer Geoffrey Robertson will represent WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in his fight against extradition from Britain to Sweden, Robertson’s office said on Wednesday.

Robertson, a barrister who has dual British and Australian nationality, has appeared in some of the highest-profile freedom of speech trials in British history.

He was also among the defence team in the trial for the IRA bombing of the Brighton hotel which targeted then prime minister Margaret Thatcher in the mid-1980s.

“I do believe he is representing him,” a member of staff at Robertson’s Doughty Street Chambers in London told AFP.

According to his personal website, Robertson is a member of the United Nations Justice Council, having served as the first President of the Special Court in Sierra Leone.

  4. Ah, the Wikileaks Samba! that is so cool. 🙂

And I noticed today, the serious news articles are continuing to flow……. and the internet chat about the DDoS attacks on Visa Mastercard PayPal et al. is getting totally fractal.

I have to believe John Lennon is smiling and grooving on all this.

Soon as my check comes though I will be sending a donation to Bradley Manning. He is not as fun to know about as some of this other stuff but without him and folks taking risks like his, none of this would happen…….

  5. And from the Sydney bureau

    Hi Eric,

There are a million and one sweet, interesting and encouraging
aspects to this story that could be forwarded but I thought
perhaps the one that may be of most interest to you is that Geoffrey
    Robertson QC http://www.geoffreyrobertson.com/
immediately volunteered as defence barrister for Assange. He cut
short his holidays here in Sydney and flew out to London
yesterday after speaking to JA on the telephone.

If anyone is capable of mounting a legal defence against Julian’s
extradition to Sweden it will be him – he is in possession of
a luminous intellect. Assange really will have one of the best legal
brains in the world on his case.

all best wishes to you for now,

    Maggie

  6. As i understand it, Mr. Ellsberg’s change of heart came about because he experienced a moment of compassion for another human being. One may submit that such a moment is something we all should aspire to. A gifted few can extend that moment indefinitely. May more and more be blessed with such a gift. If that can happen, things will take care of themselves for the good of the many.
