Snapshot

Angles this morning at Kingston, New York. Chart by Io Sprite.

Here is an image of what Len is describing; most of the planets, anyway. To see the exact alignment, it’s necessary to read the numbers. Mars, right at the bottom of the chart in purple, next to that yellow circle with a line through it, is  at 28+. The yellow guy is a hypothetical point called Transpluto. It doesn’t exist anywhere but in math, on the chart and on the astral level, and we experience it psychologically as focus, precision, a specific approach: good thing to have when Mars is around. Mars is not an energy you want to be sloppy with.

Directly on the opposite end of the wheel (in a blue glyph shaped like a trident) is Neptune at 28+ Aquarius: that the numbers match tells you the opposition is exact. Then comes the Moon, at 26+ Aquarius, about to make a conjunction to Neptune and an opposition to Mars and Transpluto. The Moon moves about one degree every two hours, so you know it’s going to be exact in about four hours from the time the chart is cast.

The shadowy looking thing to the left of the Moon is called the mean oscillating apogee, or the Black Moon Lilith. This is an aspect of the feminine, usually concealed, only whispered of, but known to all.

The Sun is on the left above the horizontal line (which is the horizon). You can see the Sun’s opposition to Pholus by looking right across the dial to the right; Pholus is a little faint though you can see its number clearly, 13 degrees and 36 minutes and that Rx means retrograde motion. The Sun opposing Pholus is a reminder to watch out for seemingly minor things that are deeply influential. Beware of how you handle yourself around alcohol. Look for stories, themes or issues that go back three generations; consider the ‘grandparents’ and ‘great-grandparents’ angle on everything.

You can see the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction on the upper left: Uranus is the capital H-looking thing in fuscia at 00+ Aries and Jupiter is the lower case H looking thing in right next to it in blue. Note that Jupiter is in Pisces, very late degree because you can see that it’s 29 degrees and a high number of minutes, 37 out of 59 possible: it’s right on the brink of Aries as well; we knew that.

If you’re looking for Chiron in Pisces, that’s the little key at 00 degrees and 59 minutes of that sign. This tells us that Chiron has gone nearly a very whole degree in Pisces.

Also — the floor is open for questions and for readers to have a toss at answering them.

  1. Patz,

What a dearheart you are to put so much effort into analyzing this dream of mine. It really does make sense and I so appreciate your sharing your intuitive skill. Will have to re-read a few more times until my Virgo Neptune can blend all the details into a visual that I can digest. But in the meantime I will get prepared for new kitty sometime in the distant future! Thank you for your response and for teaching me some new things about dreams.

  2. bkoehler,

First thank you for your generous comments on a prior topic. I found the article that you sent very interesting and thought provoking.
In regard to your dream I’d like to offer another perspective. Dreams may have a literal interpretation and some may be a premonition.. It stands to reason (logic) that dreaming (subconscious) of a kitty would equal the coming of a new cat. When I look at dreams I see each aspect as a symbol.
Eric stated that Sun opp. Pholus represented a caution re: alcohol and the effect of small causes could have big effects. So in the case of alcohol, when one drinks inhibitions (reason) fall away and the subconscious behaviors appear.
In the case of small causes (kitty) it could represent the new curiosity of new emotions, intuition, or independence and yet keeping them close to the vest (lap). You ordinarily adhere (stand up) to your beliefs and communicate (paper) them as such but have made a look back (turn around) at the pauses you made on your life path. You are at a decision making point (waist) as to whether you continue on with the material world or follow the spiritual path. As the kitty also represents your deep intuitive self, this self is unfamiliar to you, so you question (Who Are You?) and ask for clarity regarding this spiritual energy (Where’s Crystal?) You see the Self of who you are through the mirror of your soul (eyes) and remember or have an epiphany. (awaken= big effects) You have become whole. (Sadness disappears).
As Moonrose69 so aptly described the Neptune in Aquarius experience for her was the slippery feeling of what could be less than reality Yes,the self of who you thought you are is slipping away and the self of whom you know yourself to be (kitty=deeply intuitive) is emerging. You are born again as the real you.
So is it with the alcohol, one leaves reality and becomes different (as Eric says – even the Gods inhaling (taking in life) from the vat only the scent of the wine (sweet elixir of life) revealing and experiencing hidden and unfamiliar aspect of themselves which can be maddening. In order to heal one must face the madness and correct the mistaken perceptions of being who they think people want them to be (Gods) and be who they know (core memory) themselves to be (Crystal=Spiritual Energy).

  3. kyla: i am getting lost in the multitude of comments on comments and comments on various posts… but yes… the stuff you say… it stays with me. xm

  4. Michele, I love it about the floaty colored strings…. and I try to love it too, this thing about not knowing if good news is good or…… not so good…… kind of may you be cursed with what you want kind of energy….. may it BE good news, may livelihoods flourish in ways that are a real blessing, may it spread…..

by the end of this day I know so much less than what I thought I started out knowing this morning….. find myself coming in here for some ease, oddly. Where I work a difficult to relate to individual is showing some colors that are very hard for me to be with…. and it is my job to be with them somehow…… and meanwhile my internet via which whatever I do must flow to take place continues from this afternoon through tonight to cut out repeatedly making my job much much harder

but also providing time for considering, this? well, yes but maybe this way instead? so the curse turns to a blessing in my hands if I possibly can work it that way…..

wanting peace so bad, so bad.

  5. funny. all those beautiful lines across houses reminds me of when i used to see coloured floaty strings between people. such intense connections. i look at the charts and i am agog. that all of you can decipher these mysteries… i thank you for sharing.

i am currently completely on the greening of the arctic. and spreading of the love.

my silly diamond mine (i don not work for them) recently retracted its speed-forward plan in favour of aboriginal communities. this may or may not be good news. in the short term it is good news. in the long term it may be punishment. (i dreamed, before the retraction came that they would shut down the mine in x number of months, so sorry all your jobs are gone cause you were so so so difficult with us) but for now… they were stopped from proceeding swiftly on untested technology. this happened last week. in the wake of the gulf situation. they were trying to speed forward wet-mining on a diamond pipe. they pulled back.

    je ne sais quoi…

  6. selfishly, indulgently, I innocently want as night falls to hear the song of Venus; the right now Venus. What is that tone. If it were music, what music would it be.

Venus, in the later Crab, Venus coming to the Lion after Mars has left us weary, so strong.

  7. Of course you’re right. :0) I had my little M tail backwards. Thank you.

I think I get the Neptune in Aquarius as being the slippery feeling of what could be less than reality… but how does Saturn in Virgo fit into that translation?

  8. Scorpio to Aquarius would be a square aspect. Those are both fixed signs. At the present moment, Saturn is in late Virgo, 150 degrees and 51 arc minutes away from Neptune in Aquarius.

I hadn’t noticed that quincunx until now. Eric also mentioned in this week’s audio report that Neptune is having its first return to its discovery location (the degree in Aquarius where it was situated at its discovery in 1846.) Gah. No wonder I’m having trouble maintaining (semi-)consciousness this week. 😛

All of a sudden, I’m hearing Paul Simon’s voice, singing in my mind: “the more you reach your destination, the more you’re slip-sliding away … “

  9. There is a huge quincunx — Saturn to Neptune; Virgo to Aquarius. This is that slippery feeling of reality slipping away….both are late in their signs…

  10. I understand oppositions and conjunctions, seemingly the two easiest to grasp.

Is there also a square, trine, sextile and quincunx in this chart that can be pointed out?

  11. I wanted to add a note extending the mosquito analogy. I found during my research (I was looking for the word ‘proboscis’) that mosquitoes are nectar feeders, only the females of some of the species are able to drink blood, and even they do not need it for survival; they only need supplemental substances such as iron and protein to develop eggs.

I recently attended training for installing solar hot water heating systems and the instructor was involved in construction. He has built houses in Northern Wisconsin (where it can stay below zero for weeks) that will never get below 55 degrees using only good design and passive solar gain and can stay in the 70s all winter with less than two cords of wood. This is drinking nectar.

We, however, use supplemental substances such as iron, oil, uranium, etc, not to develop eggs, but to develop machines, cities, monuments, faster transportation and consumer goods. While these things may be beneficial, while they may be impressive, while they may expand our horizons and our reach, they are not under any circumstances necessary for life, and if we are destroying that which is necessary for life to create that which is not, in the immortal words of anonymous “You’re doing it wrong” and in the immortal words of the Cree people…

Only after the last tree has been cut down
Only after the last river has been poisoned
Only after the last fish has been caught
Only then will you find you cannot eat money

  12. Hi Eric,
It’s really nice whenever I get to read your explanations of the charts, they’ve always been a tough nut to crack for me.

I see you noted to “beware of how you handle yourself around alcohol”, something that was also touched on in the audio recently. I was wondering if you might be able to shed a little insight into the astrology behind this particular interpretation and perhaps some idea of how it fits into the larger picture of things.

I’ve been paying attention and noticing some adjustments that could certainly be made on my part, and I must say the timing seems right. I never knew my grandfather from my father’s side (heart attack before I was born), but my grandparents on my mother’s side seemed to have a pretty healthy relationship with it. My Grandpa’s Perfect Brandy Old-Fashioned was always in demand, but cocktail hour was when it started and it was rare that I’ve ever seen him drunk. This is certainly not the case with all members of my family.

    Thanks,
    Jack

  13. bkoehler, I’ve had dreams the past two nights that have included cats and my friend here as well. This early morning’s dream wasn’t overly endearing though, unlike yours seems to have been. I hope you find your Donegan, and he you. I hope you feel better soon.

Funny thing, I was just telling my friend on our morning walk about my grandfather and alcohol, and how he always split the party when it was his turn to buy a round, and how my uncle, first, felt so embarrassed by this, and, second, made the conscious choice to not be like his dad. My uncle is very generous with his money, but he does drink too much, like his dad.

  14. Eric,

Thanks for the lesson; I’ve been meaning to find out what the apogee is for the longest. Woke from a dream, or maybe the dream woke me, of my next kitty. He had been on my lap and I was thinking of something else when I got up (in my dream) and went to some papers. When I turned around he was on the back of the couch, about waist high, and it dawned on me (in my dream) that I’d never seen him before. I said “who ARE you? Where’s Crystal?” as I looked him in the eyes and immediately snapped fully awake. Then it dawned on me that he would be coming soon and I wouldn’t have to be sad anymore.

He looked a lot like the cat in the commercial for some allergy med and the lady has to “banish” him to the garden ’cause of her allergies. Then she takes the meds and races him to the lawn chair. I’m going to call him Donegan (sounds like born again).

  15. Eric this was the perfect companion to Len’s writing, just as you intended it to be. As someone who is still in the early stages of learning, the visual chart and your astrological knowledge are so helpful to me in my learning curve. I am full of gratitude for the wonderful wealth of information available to me through Planet Waves; it is my main source for integration and expansion of my awareness of both the political and personal. Thanks to all at Planet Waves who work to provide a light in the shadow.
