Amanda asked me about this photo; this is what I wrote to her:

Well, it was a visceral response and an understanding of the depth of Neisha’s pagan roots, as her power source – she goes from the core and it fires right into her pictures; this was the perfect expression of the moment. The Star, or Pentacle, is the living symbol of the goddess, planetary in origin as Venus retrogrades trace the points of a five pointed star, perfectly, over and over. Samhain (pronounced sah-wenn) is truly the high holiday of the pagan faiths – of the goddess ilk – so it’s her tribute to Her in this moment. The black is a fabulous sensation of the dark and the power and beauty of darkness; of the void – a core space of feminine consciousness. The Star opens up onto a universe, you can see the stars spattered in orange everywhere.

Tonight is New Year’s Eve for all witches, too, and we all know it…Happy New Year, Lady of Earth.
