This is similar to what made a young Illinois girl (me) an activist. Taking the “L” out of curiosity into downtown Chicago one afternoon to see what was going on in the summer of 1968 at the Chicago National Democratic Convention/demonstrations/police riot. Talking with a young National Guard soldier who was standing at attention, eyes fixed straight ahead, in a cordon line and asking him if he would really shoot me (his gun was at the ready) (he shook his head yes) was a turning point. I left a flower at this feet. His eyes kept staring ahead. ((Yes, I really did that. Before I was called that.)
I haven’t stopped “going to see what is happeneing on the streets” and taking part in my share of actions ever since then.
I am really excited to see the nucleus of protestors staying there so that the onlookers can become joiners as I did.
I am getting tingles of hope and YES. Revolujah!
Oh, and, GO Anonymous!
Oh yeah, Rev. Billy, I am feeling the Revolujah.
Resist those bankers, civic life *is* corrupt.
Oh yeah, Amen to that, brother.
Zucotti Park is where it’s at.
How exciting.
Revolujah.
Sweet!
I went down to Zuccotti Park today. The kids there are fabulous. I would say there were 400 people here. They were having a General Assembly, which they do with the call-response system they used in the Michael Moore video.
They have a “kitchen” where they make meals, a comfort station, a medic station, a sign-painting area, a People’s Library, and a music area.
They need blankets and warm clothing like hoodies, sweatshirts, sweatpants, etc. Esp they need men’s sizes, and extra large.
They need toothbrushes. They will gladly take water and food. (Many there are vegetarians.)
I urge everyone to go hang out there and take them something they can use.
ya mon
this is my idea of a minister.
