One of the primary reasons we follow astrology is to understand the question, “Who am I?” Tonight’s Full Moon in Leo is suggesting that it’s okay not to be so certain about that.

There’s also the idea in the chart that we might try to overcompensate by clinging to some certainty that may have worked in the past, or defining ourselves by a very narrow concept of identity. You could say this is the opposite of enlightenment. On one side of the Full Moon (which is an opposition, or polarized situation) we have the Moon in Leo conjunct this weird point called Transpluto. Leo Moon = self concept and Transpluto = over-focus. That would translate approximately to, “I’m a plumber, I’m a plumber, I’m a plumber, I’m such a dedicated plumber, I’m a plumber, oh I’m a dad and I like Pink Floyd. I’m such a plumber.”
The other side of the Full Moon is the Sun conjunct Neptune. The Sun has a connection to Leo/Meo (as the ruler of that sign), and conjunct Neptune it’s lost in a fog. The Leo sense of Me can evaporate when it gets around Neptune. Sun conjunct Neptune is saying, “I was a plumber yesterday. I dreamed of being a plumber last night. I like plumbing. Plumbing is so interesting. All these pipes lead to God. God is water. Water is everywhere. I feel so meaningless and alone. Who am I? Oh, I’m a plumber. I better get to work.”
This is compensated by the Leo Moon conjunct Transpluto, which then says, “I’m the best fuckin’ plumber in this city. I’m such a plumber. Wanted to be one as a kid.” And so on. Note, this is a kind of false dialog. It’s not really a conversation that goes anywhere or gets any information onto the floor. Fortunately there is a new influence in the picture, that will help a lot with clearing fog: Chiron in Pisces. This little planet, discovered spinning around our Sun in 1977 (it started a revolution, but that’s another topic) is opposite the Full Moon. It’s right in the mix.
Neptune and Pisces are related (not the same thing, but they speak the same language), and Chiron has a lot of experience clarifying Neptune. Chiron is all about gaining clarity, wherever it is, and involved with Neptune it’s going to address denial; in Pisces, there’s an impulse to focus creative energy. Some people prefer the notion ‘spiritual’ but I would say that really, spiritual is not a practical term. Creative, despite what anyone may have told you, is practical. Creative is practical because the world is new every day and needs new ideas every day; it’s practical because we love the results of creative process, which has a nice effect of providing comfort for our rather stressed out minds.
And, while we’re busy being stressed out, we are — in fact — wondering who we are and what we’re doing here, and when you really ask that question, it feels a little like Pisces. The essence of Pisces is a question that is answered by something like a song or a painting, rather than an intellectual answer. Chiron does not provide a concrete answer but it makes the question a little more poignant, and helps us focus creative energy. It’s like this: most people don’t write down their clever and funny ideas. They have them, for sure. I do know about this. For a long time I walked around saying, “Oh, that would make a great picture. That would make a great picture.” Finally, I got a camera, and started making photos. Then I started meeting people (including a lot of interesting women) through the photos. Then I started writing about the pictures and the people I was photographing.
Basically, any successful creative experience goes from Pisces (a misty idea) to Chiron in Pisces (documenting that idea, developing it, putting it to work, having fun with it). Remember that this is not about ‘being a photographer’ as much as it is about making a picture and seeing what happens. Identity is what you explore, not what you know about yourself. We usually think of identity as something we get trapped in. This Full Moon is about identity as something we experiment with.

I see that Joe the Plumber is getting his own TV show. π

Eric,
Ah, the light come on. The way you pull charts together, master stroke.
Jere here are your lyrics to Warf Rat
Half of my life
I spent doin’ time for
some other fucker’s crime
Other half found me stumbling around
drunk on burgundy wine

and if you happen to get here — this is tomorrow’s edition of Planet Waves, in a Full Moon preview
Boy,this one is right on time for me. I’m currently without a job and have had no success on finding a new one in the last couple months. I lately started questioning my need to stay in the field I’ve chosen. Who says this is what I have to do the rest of my life? Just because I was “trained” to be (fill in the blank)?
I’ve applied to a job totally different than what I’ve done for the past 10+ years first out of desperation but am excited by the prospect of doing something different in a field I’m more interested in and like the idea of NOT going back to my old job.
I’m also a solar Leo so maybe it’s time for me to face the time is now for a new identity with help from Pisces and Chiron. Neptune already has me dreaming…:-)
Hahahaha, the plumber thing is hilarious. I was reading along nodding, yes, but then what? What should I do…. am I a plumber or not dammit?!
“Identity is what you explore, not what you know about yourself.”
Oh, dang. I guess there’s more to learn.
..”..spent doin’ time, while some mother fucker’s cryin’. ..gotta have boundaries..”

“Thereβs also the idea in the chart that we might try to overcompensate by clinging to some certainty..”
Thank you Eric. I was almost sure to wear an old ‘mask’ this morning and then read your post.
..Len’s the ‘ferris wheel’ (..perhaps a hoser..?..;) Pipe layer?!), Eric’s the ocean. Pictographs.
..thanks for the insight to some key components in my natal.

1greenguizer, that is awesome. I imagine breakthroughs like that are happening more and more now, I sure hope so!
But I still have more to say about plumbers. The funny thing about that image is before I read that whole description I was actually catching myself in the act of what it described, in a funny kind of way. I had to put an ad on a local email list about myself, as I have to move (again, oh noes!!!!) and had described my gardening with enthusiasm but had not even mentioned a whole other thing, my work, to which I am devoted. I was thinking, huh, why didn’t I just say, I have a job I am devoted to? Instead, I deflected everything to the gardening (to which I am also devoted….)
anyway it was hilarious to come in here and read that description that nailed it right on.
And then to ice the cake the place I looked at this morning has a lot going for it except the plumbing needs work and I had this totally amusing chat with the owner, about plumbing…… hard to keep a straight face, not that I needed to, they were really nice people. Though, I have to say, not a one of us is a plumber.
Awsome article Eric….
I feel so blessed to be in this present space and time on earth..Yeah!
I had incredible dreams last night about healing of my cold/blocked hearted stepmother,
( haven’t seen her or my father in 15 years).
I asked her if she wanted to be a part of the evolution of conciousness or not. She said that she did want to be a part and that her working the past 35 years in the banking industry had left her emotionaly bankrupt and had closed her off from all humanity. I could see that my father was ready to make the shift already. I asked her permission to place my hands over her heart – she said ok. My hands were glowing suddenly and a giant pulse of wave energy moved through my hands like the Solar flare you showed us yesterday on PW -coming through my hands into her heart and then reverberated out of her and crashed through her blocks sounding like breaking glass, shattering them then continued back through me and out into the cosmos.
I was blown away at being the conduit of such an immense pulse of energy and that it had such a profound effect on her- she instantly felt all that had been blocked and could no longer hurt herself by hurting others.
Then the room filled up with all my friends, people I know and don’t know- all walks of life all ages – we were sufi dancing and drums were drumming then the techno kids were making music on their I- gadgets, -it all blended in harmony there was a light show like the northern lights projected on the wall of the room and then we all circling together joined by touching each others backs (we have each others backs)around the room to the sound of Beethovens 5th…
The revolution is on…

Actually, i’m more of a hoser, although i have laid a few miles of pipe in my time.
Len: Does this mean you are *not* a plumber???

Thank you, but i did not write this blog, i wrote the blog directly below. Don’t worry, i’m confused too.
“Sun conjunct Neptune is saying, βI was a plumber yesterday. I like plumbing. Plumbing is so interesting. All these pipes lead to God. God is water. Water is everywhere. I feel so meaningless and alone. Who am I? Oh, Iβm a plumber. I better get to work.β”

Another great article Len– and funny too. Love the plumber thing. But ever more your description of Pisces & Chiron are very helpful to me. Thanks so much for actually writing these columns instead of just thinking about them! Happy Leo Moon!
